Questions and Answers Solicitation FA8224-12-R-0039
1. Under section 7.3, item G, the requirement makes reference to "accuracies defined in Section 11.5". Our thorough review of the solicitation noted the Sections ceasing a 9.0. Is there an addendum that we are missing? Is this a typo? Can you please confirm this and/or provide the proper section and/or accuracy requirements you reference?
A: 7.3 g (it was really was h) Was removed from PS
2. In Section 7.4, Item A and 7.5, Item A and Item A4, you make reference to Table II. We could not find Table II within the solicitation documents. Can you please clarify and/or provide Table II for our reference?
A: 7.4 was removed and reference to table II in paragraph 7.5 was removed. Statement in paragraph 7.5 was added "The positioning tolerance will be demonstrated according to VDI/DGQ 3441"
3. Per Sections 7.4, Item B, you note that the F-16 test part will need to be machined as the test piece. Further, in 7.4 item D you reference that the contractor shall furnish all tooling, high speed cutters, carbide inserts, insert holders, fixtures, etc. needed to perform the tests for each machine. Can you confirm if you have a specific fixture you would like to use for the F-16 struts, or is it at the sole discretion of the contractor or supplier to provide a means to fixture the part? Furthermore, how do you determine to qualify the accuracy of the fixture if elected by the contractor? Do you have specifications or requirements for the fixturing itself? Additionally, the pictures and print are sufficient for bidding purposes, but will official copies be provided post award?
A: The contractor is to provide all the fixturing and tooling for the run-off part. We don't care how they fixture the part as long as they can meet the part tolerances and its simple for the machinist to set up. We can have the part sent over to a CMM after the run-off to verify accuracies after the run-off at the factory.
4. Per Section 7.4 item C, how many test parts will be provided? How many test parts will be expected to be machined, one per each inspection?
A: One part per inspection will be required.
