Questions and Answers
Question 1- Is there a pressing reason the machine cannot be removed to a contractors facility for this level of work? The work will require grinding and scraping, castings will need to be machined to accept ballscrew bearing supports and servo motors mounts. This work cannot be done on your floor.
Answer 1- We have had two other machine retrofit/rebuilt in shop. The work that was accomplished on those other two machine were of the same scope as the current solicitation. Therefore, it is required that the work be accomplished onsite.
Question 2- Does the CDRL need to be priced as well on the individual sheets (A001 thru A003) Form 1423 , blocks 17 & 18 ?
Answer 2- We do need the CDRL blocks 17 and 18 filled out. The combination of the prices listed in block 18 on A001 through A003 should be listed as the total price for CLIN 0004.
Question 3- Hill AFB has had several machines retrofitted on site already.....were any of those grinders ?
Answer 3- Yes, the machines were of the same configurations as the machine that is being solicited.
Question 4- Is the intention for the end user(s) to have this retrofitted machine operate and be programmed as closely as possible to those?
Answer 4- Yes, however, the machine that is being solicited for the retrofit will naturally be similar to the previous retrofits because the same controller will be used. Any differences will be minor and can be covered during the requested training.
Question 5- Do the currently retrofitted machines / controls use the standard Fanuc grinding cycles and functions or are there custom screens and interfaces present in those retrofitted systems ?
Answer 5- They use custom grinding macro
Question 6- If there are custom screens or interfaces, can you provide a basic description or provide a manual that describes them to the bidders now ?
Answer 6- There are no custom screens
Question 7- Does the machine that is to be retrofitted and rebuilt now have ballscrews on X and Z axes ?
Answer 7- Yes the machine currently has ballscrews ans the solicitation is asking for them to be replaced with new ones.
