Several AGM Power Plants have reached the end-of-life and end-of-service stages, meaning the vendor can no longer provide support. Additionally, there is significant difficulty finding vendors to service or replace parts. The rectifiers, resistors, and circuit card assemblies for the AGM Power Plants are no longer supported by vendors for replacement, necessitating the need for new components. Replacement of rectifiers, resistors, and circuit card assemblies that are no longer vendor-supported is critical as new components must be compatible with existing systems and meet all operational requirements for power plants.
The AGM-600 Power Plants are installed at numerous Instrumentation and Command system locations throughout the Western Range. These power plants are crucial for supporting various communications requirements, including Range Safety Critical Command and Antenna pointing data circuits. They provide 48 Volt Direct Current (DC) power for the communications equipment, ensuring the seamless operation of the system.
Each of these locations requires continuous power to operate efficiently and fulfill their missions. To ensure constant power, it is essential to have backup systems in place that are compatible with the required power specifications. These backup systems prevent any power interruption that could jeopardize the mission-critical operations of the communications equipment.
