Motion Transducer: FA820619R0004 Questions and Answers:
Q: Is this a CPFF or FFP contract?
A: This is a FFP Contract.
Q: Is there a technical contact to reach out to find out things like:
i) is this to be a form, fit, and functional replacement?
ii) can new technology be introduced i.e. the original device was from 1962, current technology to Accomplish the same functionality is much better today
iii) are there drawings, specifications and/or data sheets that can be shared so as to better our cost estimates.
A: i) Yes, it must be form, fit, and function compatible. From a signal standpoint, the existing system cannot know the difference between the new and old sensor. From a mechanical standpoint, the sensor needs to meet the mechanical envelope and attachment method (both securing bolts and electrical connections) of the current device. See the simple drawing, Figure 1, in the Statement of Work for an illustration
ii) New technology can be introduced within the device. However, the electrical interface and electrical signaling to the next higher assembly must be indistinguishable from the original technology sensor. In addition, the new technology must not contain any type of electronic memory, microcontroller, or any type of small computer. It must be a “dumb sensor”.
Just a clarification that it must be a “dumb sensor”.
iii) Drawing is available, please send your DD FORM 2345 (Military Critical Technical Data Agreement) to rosita.crawford@us.af.mil to get access to the drawing.
