Timing Chip - Lap Counter
The requires a timing system for official Fitness Assessments on the track that will register run laps and times automatically. It's necessary that the product be autonomous and has automatic lap timing system that maintains historical records of running laps completed for the AF Fitness Tests. It must employ 2.45 GHz RFID technology that is always on (remains constant)--does not "blink" a signal--this provides an accurate timing for the runners. Does not have a back RF lobe. Must have patch antennas in the readers. Ensures no false tag detects as tags are walked around behind the reader.
Powered by either 110v or 12v with ability to be recharged. Has memory and a microprocessor programmable by Linux. Has rotating cache with capability of storing 500K tags. Patch antenna that are directional--signal cannot be omnidirectional and thus appropriate for chip timing.
Market research has indicated that other companies provide similar products, but they may not be acceptable due to the above reasons. A solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps. Efforts will continue to find specifications that are equal or higher than the specs required by the end user.
Market research will continue to promote competition.
Based on the above specs, market research has been accomplished, and there are other vendors that distribute "similar" products. However, it is crucial that all specifications are met in order to ensure 100% accurate and concise Air Force physical fitness assessments. Fitness assessments are not only important to maintain a fit to fight force, but to retain military members. Use of other specifications runs the risk of recording a false time, which will be detrimental to the service member, and is therefore unacceptable. guarantees 100% reliability. Market research will continue to determine if a company can provide any product that is more accurate than but at this time, that vendor is not available.
