About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers record for Air Force solicitation FA813226Q0033 regarding the procurement of two waterjet cutters.
The solicitation requires installation of two waterjet cutting systems in the same building, positioned next to each other within existing bridge crane spaces. The government prefers simultaneous installation of both units but will accept sequential or back-to-back installation if necessary. Installation will occur at a location where older, smaller waterjet cutters currently operate. The concrete slabs at the installation site are reported to be in good repair, though detailed drawings of thickness and reinforcement are being requested by the government. Water and air connections are expected to be available and sufficient at the location; however, the government anticipates requiring an electrical power upgrade to accommodate the higher power demands of the new machines and requests that contractors provide power requirements during their proposal. The government authorized an on-site visit for vendors and indicated willingness to provide photographs of the installation area, including images of the slab and utility connection points, if an in-person site visit is not feasible. An autoCAD drawing depicting the total installation envelope for both machines is available upon request from the listed government contacts. Contractors are responsible for any necessary slab preparation or replacement work, either performing it directly or subcontracting to a local company.

Waterjet Cutters Solicitation FA813226Q0033 Questions and Answers
1. Is there any information regarding the site (i.e., dimensions of installation space)?
a. See attached autoCAD drawing. The plan is to install the water jet gantry/tank/cutting envelope portion of each equipment inside one of the two bridge cranes. I can’t guarantee the drawing dimensions are exactly accurate, but this should be fairly close to accurate. I would say that the entire enclosed area shown is the total install envelope for both machines combined.
2. The RFQ is for two waterjets, will these be installed in the same building next to each other?
a. Same building next to each other, see autocad drawing.
3. Is the intention of the government for BOTH waterjets be installed at the same time? Or one waterjet at a time?
a. Both at the same time would be preferred, but it can be done separately if needed (or at least back to back).
4. In section 3.1.5, it states “If the slab at the installation location needs to be repoured, the Contractor shall repour the industrial slab themselves, or subcontract this out to a local company to expedite the process.” What is the condition of these slabs? Are these concrete slabs? If so, how deep are these slabs? Are there any cracks in these slabs?
a. The concrete slabs are currently in good repair, although I do not have drawings of the thickness or reinforcement on it. We are putting in a request to get more information on the slab depth.
5. What is the total workable square footage of the installation area for each system?
a. See autocad drawing
6. Due to the fact that we don’t know the condition and location of the installation area, we are requesting a site visit as soon as possible.
a. We are fine also hosting a site visit for the vendors.
7. If a site visit is not feasible, can we get pictures of the installation area to include images of the slab, electrical, air, and water connection areas?
a. There are currently water jet cutters in the locations these are going to be installed in (although much older and smaller). Water and air should be still available at the location and sufficient. We will need to know what the power requirement is as I think we may have to update the power since the new machines will likely draw more power.
