SLEP Kitting Carts
Questions from potential vendors
1. I am writing to request more information on the HDPE shelves. It's hard to discern any detail from the photos and there is not much text description of these either. It appears there is more than one layer of HDPE in each shelf (double piping), but it is difficult to tell whether these are molded shelves or just sheeting (1/2" thick?) with radius corners for the piping.
‐ There is a single layer of ½ inch thick HDPE material used for shelving. This material should sit atop the horizontal bracing and have radial notches cut at the corners to fit around the vertical joints. The shelving should be able to be affixed to the horizontal bars by velcro strips on the bar and shelving material.
2. The solicitation states “Blue colored piping Black Joints Aluminum Material,” but most of vendors in this market space (Creform, NIS, Flexpipe, etc.) supply coated steel piping; can you clarify if the piping must be aluminum, or if steel is also acceptable?
‐ The inclusion of the word Aluminum is in error. Blue colored steel piping is required.
3. Do you have a required thickness for the HDPE shelving material? The solicitation specifies length and width of the shelf, but not the thickness
‐ Black material – ½ inch thick – radius corners are acceptable
4. Does the shelving need to be white HDPE, or is color not a firm requirement (in which case most economical color is acceptable)?
‐ The original solicitation incorrectly indicated white shelving. The required shelving should be black.
5. Can we ship disassembled carts to Tinker and perform final assembly on‐site? In other words, will there be space available at Tinker AFB to perform the assembly work?
‐ The cart sideframes with casters attached need to be assembled at the contractor’s facility.
Final assembly will be performed by government personnel at Tinker AFB. All necessary hardware needed to perform final assembly must be included in the shipment. All final assembly should be able to be accomplished without specialized tooling.
