FLIGHT (GARRISON) CAP, CADET, MEN’S

The following exceptions will apply when MIL-C-3261F is used to manufacture flight (garrison) caps for male cadets at the United States Air Force Academy.

1. Page 1, paragraph 1.2 Classification. Class 2 Officer, shall be applicable for

USAFA contracts.

2. Page 2, Paragraph 1.2.1 Sizes. Add size 8 and 8 1/8 to the schedule of sizes.

3. Page 2, Paragraph 2.1.1 Specifications, Standards and Handbooks. Disregard, supplement or replace the following military specifications/standards:

4. Page 4, Paragraph 3.1 First Article. Disregard the entire paragraph and substitute with the following: “Before each production is commenced, the contractor shall submit to the contracting officer, for inspection the following item:

One finished cap, size 7 ¼, conforming to the requirements of this specification”.

Note: This requirement may be waived if a prior contractor receives the contract for this item.

5. Page 4, Paragraph 3.3.1 Basic Material. Disregard the entire paragraph and substitute with the following: “The basic material for the cap shall conform to MIL- C-3738K, Cloth, Elastique, Wool, Type II, 18 ounce, Class 1, Shade 500, dated 31 March 1987”. This will be government furnished material (GFM).

6. Page 4, paragraph 3.3.2 Braid. Disregard the entire paragraph and substitute with the following: The braid for the cap shall conform to class 6 of A-A-55264.

7. Page 4, paragraph 3.3.3 Sweatband. Disregard the entire paragraph and substitute with the following: “Nylon bunting. The nylon bunting for the sweatband shall be dyed black and shall conform to type I, class A of A-A-55264, except that the color–fastness therein shall not apply. The dyed bunting shall show ‘good’ fastness to dry cleaning, perspiration, and crocking when tested.”

8. Page 5, Paragraph 3.3.6 Label. Disregard the entire paragraph and substitute with the following:

3.3.6 Identification and size label. “Each cap shall have a cloth, cotton, permanent-coated, combination identification, size and cleaning instruction label conforming to type VI, classes 1, 2, and 10 of specification MIL-DTL- 32075. The label will finish not less than 1” long and 2 ½” wide, and show the following information:

3.3.6.1 Size/bar-code label. The label shall be approximately 2” x 3”.

The numbers for the size shall be at least ¼” in height. The label will also be bar-coded using type 39 bar-code. The Bar-code will consist of the (10LRS/LGRCI) Cadet Issue Section stock number for each size. Label will be attached to the outside of each polyethylene film bag for convenience of wand reading.

9. Page 5, Paragraph 3.5 Design. Disregard the entire paragraph and substitute with the following: “The cap shall be for male USAFA cadets, envelope style, fully lined, and with USAF Officer silver and blue braid.”

10. Page 7, Table II. Manufacturing Operations, Operation 1. Cut parts. Add the following: "All elastique parts of the cap shall be cut out of one piece of material."

11. Page 17, Table III. Add the bottom row to the table for cap size 8 and 8 1/8.

12. Page 21, paragraph 6.1 Intended Use. Replace the words:”Department of the Air

Force” with “United States Air Force Academy.”
