Third Wave of Questions from Contractors
1. Is water and or power available for the contractor to use at the site?
Response Water: There is one water supply on the outside of the west side the facility. Contractor will have to provide their own hose long enough to reach the East side of the building if necessary.
Second Option: as discussed during the site visit, you also have access to fire hydrants around the facility. For this option the contractor will have to provide his own backflow preventer.
Response Power: There are no external outside electrical outlets but there are two in the mechanical room on the west side of the facility. Again, contractor will have to provide extensions cord rated for that length run.
2. What is the required finish for the floor inside the vestibule?
Response: Broom finish
3. Please provide a spec for the roof system desired on the vestibule.
Response: IAW SOW page 1; Para 1 Reinforced concrete slab roof. DOR must check the UFGS catalogues for the latest and most appropriate specification that meet the requirements of the SOW and meet the South Florida wind requirements. The government will review and approve accordingly during the design review process.
4. Please clarify what purpose is the vestibule intended to serve. Is it to protect personnel from the elements when entering the building or is there some other security or antiterrorism object that the government is desiring to achieve?
Response: The purpose of the vestibule is to protect personnel and equipment from the elements.
5. Please confirm that antiterrorism standards and building envelop security requirements stop at the main building envelope. In other words are not required for the new vestibule. If so please advise of the specific standards that the designer is required to adhere to.
Response: Correct, the vestibule is not a Secure Room. However, the implications of working in, around and attaching to a JAFAN certified room will require you to comply specifically with SOW Para 2 References: (a), (b), (p) and (q) among others. Also see para 3.1.2 and 3.2.1 contractor should have full familiarization with the requirements of ICD/ICS 705 Ver. 1.3 dated September of 2015 or most recent.
6. We do not see where Civil or plumbing drawings will be required for this project. Can the government please clarify where the designer would need to provide drawings for such disciplines.
Response: Drawings and specifications should be provided as required, the government will leave that up to your Designer of Record. The government will review and approve accordingly during the design review process.
