EAST WALL AND REPLACE WINDOWS, B822
Q’s and A’s
Q#1 – define the level of forced entry resistance.
A#1: According to ASTM International, the forced entry resistance test methods are designed to determine the ability of windows and doors (also known as fenestrations) of various types to restrain, delay or frustrate forced entry. These tests are not intended to provide a measure of resistance against any and all types of forced entry. Rather, they are designed to test a given amount of force applied to the product and its components in an attempt to gain entry.
Q#2 – is hurricane impact required? If not, what is the protection intent?
A#2: The hurricane impact does not apply to this project. Only basic protection.
Q#3 – what classification are the windows intended to meet (residential, commercial, heavy commercial, architectural)?
A#3: Use windows for commercial use.
Q#4 – are project specific sample require or will standard none specified sample suffice?
A#4: A Standard, no project-specific sample suffice.
Q#5 – are the windows intended to be used for rescue or egress?
A#5: No. These windows are not intended to be used for rescue or egress.
Q#6 – what type of hardware will be required (pole hardware as specified is not applicable with sliding windows)?
A#6: Provide latching device hardware to lock the window from the inside.
Q#7 – are window cleaner anchors (as specified) required?
A#7: Disregard this requirement.
Q#8 - please clarify the desired glass make-up including any tints or desired low-e coatings?
A#8: exterior glass panes for Low-E insulating units shall be Type I annealed flat glass, Class 2-tinted with anti-reflective low-emissivity coating on No. 2 surface (inside surface of exterior pane), Quality q3 - glazing select, conforming to ASTM C 1036. Glass performance shall be R-Value/Winter Nighttime 0.29 or better, shading coefficient 0.26. Color shall be gray.
Q#9 – What is the preferred window brand for the replacements?
A#9 – Gerkin Horizontal Sliding Windows is preferred.
Q#10 - Electrical conduit that is surface mounted to the wall, will the base electrician take this on or is this in our work scope to remove and reinstall?
A#10: The base electricians will remove and reset these outlets once the wall is finished. A work order is in place since it is not on the project scope.
Solicitation FA663321Q0009 Q#11 - Is a fence required by the GC for the free zone work area? Is there a required height?
A#11: Interlock able bike rack or wood horses and rope are preferred to set up the free-zone. A 4-foot maximum height is okay.
Q#12 - I notice that all rooms have vinyl base at the exterior walls, will this be required by the GC to provide new? If so what type/color is it?
A#12: This is not within scope of the project. Protect the existing base d with masking tape against paint.
Q#13 - Ceiling above main door has water damage tiles due to water leak of 2nd floor windows, it is it in this proposal to include replacement of those tiles?
A#13: The replacement of ceiling tiles are not part of the scope of the project.
Q#14 - What is the phasing of work? Can all rooms be done at one time or do we have to complete a room 100% before moving on to next room?
A#14: The phasing of work in this case, is having one room ready for inspection (window work, sheet rock, paint, and clean-up done). If the previous work is satisfactory to the engineer, inspector or CO, the project can proceed for the next room. Phasing does not matter. The entire East Wall project area will be made available. Provide most efficient and effective method to get the entire project complete ASAP.
