The following questions were raised by a perspective vendor:
1) What will site conditions be prior to seeding? Will it be bare soil, or will there be existing vegetation? If there is vegetation - what height will it be cut at prior to our arrival?
a. Existing vegetation is a mix of cool season turf grass and warm season bunch grasses. Grass height is expected to be approx. 4” high. Approx.10 acres of the site is expected to be dead vegetation, though not bare ground, after Westover applies a Glysophate “roundup” treatment to the cool season turf grass weeds several weeks before seeding.
2) Has the soil been “de-rocked” or prepped in any way? The subject project site does not have a rocky surface.
3) What are warranty expectations after seed has been applied? Who will be responsible for watering? No warranty is implied, though we expect the grass seed to be fresh with pure live seed as an industry standard. No watering is required.
4) Are we, the contractors, supposed to provide the seeds?
Yes.
5) In the submittals of the PWS, it is mentioned to provide a little bluestem specification sheet. Could you please clarify what this entails? Does it mean we need to write the details and specifications of the seed?
The label from the Little Blue Stem grass seed bag is sufficient.
6) In the objective, it states that the civil engineers will work with the awardee to determine the appropriate time to seed the project area. Could you please provide clarity on the project timeline? When are we expected to perform this project?
In general the best time to plant grass is early Fall, one or two weeks after Labor Day weekend is typically ideal for warm season grasses.
7) What is the format for submitting the quotation?
