About this file

This request for information response from the contracting officer's representative addresses questions from a contractor regarding solicitation FA660623R0002 for repair of the HVAC system in Building 1510 at an Air Force Reserve Command facility. The response clarifies that the statement of work requires nine separate one-to-one split air conditioning systems, with each of the three server rooms receiving multiple indoor units connected individually to standalone outdoor condensers, rather than a variable refrigerant flow system with shared piping and a single control system for each server room.

#1. The SOW calls for installation of wall-mounted ductless split systems for the three server rooms. Server room 1 would get five 3-ton indoor units, Server room 2 and 3 would each get two 3-ton indoor units. The SOW is not clear if these should each be separate one-to-one split systems or supplied as separate VRF systems. If one-to-one split units were used, each indoor unit would have its own condenser and separate refrigeration circuit and controlling thermostat (9 condensers for 9 indoor units). If VRF systems were used, there would be three separate condensers sized to feed their respective indoor units, meaning that server room 1 for example would have an approximate 15-ton condenser with one set of refrigerant piping with branches to connect the five indoor units and operate off of one thermostat in the room. Please confirm the Government intent.

WARB Response #1:

The intent is to have nine (9) separate condensers connected individually to nine (9) separate indoor units.
