QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q1. In SOO document the requested access point is Aruba AP225. According Aruba this AP is End of Sales. Can you suggest an alternative Access Point?

A1. APs have to be approved on the approved product list (APL) and be able to work on the existing controller (see model in the SOO).

Q2. Could you confirm the BRAND of the Access Points and Switches already installed at the Aviano base? Please, explain what types of wireless controllers are located at Aviano AB;

A2. Aviano AB has Aruba APs and the switches are currently Juniper which will soon migrate to Cisco. If this project requires an additional switch, it must be Cisco. Currently there are no Access Points installed on the Air Force network at NAS Sigonella. We have Juniper access node Switches installed throughout the installation a combination of 24/48 port devices.

Q3. SOO Para 3.6: Must the 30-minute backup UPSs be supplied or are they already available?

A3. Project has to be built from the beginning therefore UPSs or any other equipment has to be supplied. The Government will not provide any equipment listed in the SOO unless specifically stated. Read SOO para 3. Requirements Q4. SOO Para 3.4a: it states that the new switch will be uplinked to the main network switch in B510 comm room via a 1Gbps fiber uplink. Is this latter switch equipped with a 1 Gbps uplink port?

A4. Yes, the switches at Sigonella have 1 GB fiber link.

Q5. SOO Para 1.3: please, explain what types of wireless controllers are located at Aviano AB A5. See A2. Above.

Q6. SOO section 1.0, 3.3, and 3.4 require the contractor to coordinate with Aviano 31CS/SCOI to configure the new switch and provide connectivity to the 2GWLAN controllers at Aviano.

Can the Government confirm that a management VLAN exists on the 50M WAN link to accomplish these tasks?

A6. Yes, VLAN exists Q7. SOO section 3.4.a requires the contractor to install a new 48 port PoE+ TAA approved network switch in the Tool Kit room in B510 replacing the existing switch. Does the contractor need to supply a patch panel for this location or is there an existing patch panel with sufficient available ports?

A7a. Para 3.4.E. “Terminate the Cat 6 cables to 2 (two)- six port drop on the wall behind the tool kit cabinet in the Tool Kit room as indicated on slide 6.”

A7b. Para 3.4.H. “Terminate the other end of Cat6 to RJ45 plugs and connect directly to the network switch in the main comm room of B510.”

Q8. SOO section 3.8 states that the AP/AM positions can be relocated by the contractor to provide optimum coverage. Is the contractor required to bid the Quantities of APs/AMs listed in the SOO?

A8. The solution provided in the SOO is a proposed one and that the contractor can change it as long as the required coverage does not get altered. Basically, they should provide a proposal that meet the requirement. That means, if they want to reduce the APs (or add APs for that aspect) to meet the requirement, they can as long as they follow the BITI proposed solution (a Prim AP, a Sec AP and an AM) for each site or area coverage requiring 2GWLAN.

Q9. SOO section 3.11 Building Modifications: Will there be a form 332 required and if so can the Government provide the process for completing form 332?

A12. Correct, at least one year warranty on the installation is required, and one or two years on the products (EU Warranty is two years).

Q13. SOO Section 5.2 requires the contractor to update the TSIP. Is there an existing TSIP? If there is an existing TSIP can the Government provide that at this time so the level of effort accomplish the update can be determined?

A13. No existing TSIP. Must reference the CDRL and associated DID.

Q14. The Government in SOO sections 6 and 9 requires the contractor to provide CDRL A001 As-Builts but in SOO section 6, the Government requires an update to the TSIP to reflect final as built status. Does the Gov. require a TSIP update and CDRL A001?

A18. Adequate space is available. CAT 6 cable is required.

Q19. CDRL A005 Blk 16 remarks section referencing Blk 5 references Darby 2GWLAN INSTALLATION (12 March). Should that be corrected to reference the NASSIG 2GWLAN Installation?
