Question: Page 5 of the technical specifications states:

“Project includes restoration of the area affected by the demolition works by furnishing gravel sub-base, 20 cm of top soil and grass seeding. The area shall be leveled to the maximum extent possible following the existing storm water discharge distribution points.”

According to HN regulations, a certain part of the demolition materials can be used as sub-base.

After a very preliminary estimate, using all demolition materials as sub-grade will turn into an average subgrade thickness of 70/80cm spread all over the entire Area 2. Is this change of the final elevation of the area acceptable or is it mandatory to dispose off-site of a certain amount of such materials? Please consider that a topographic survey is not available with elevations and details.

As specified in Technical Specifications Rev. 7: Backfilling of excavated area to restore ground to zero elevation. Contractor is permitted to use compacted crushed natural inert material (bricks, concrete, etc) as sub-base for back-filling up to a depth of -50.0cm from ground zero elevation.

From a depth of -50.0cm to a depth of -20.0cm Contractor shall use natural washed gravel compacted at 95% of max density AASHO modified test. From a depth of -20.0cm to ground zero elevation Contractor shall use 20.0 cm of top soil and grass seeding.

Contractor may re-use material up to -50.0cm from the existing ground zero elevation that will have to be maintained. All exceeding material will have to be transported off base.
