CLEANING OF HOODS & DUCTS IN DINING FACILITIES IN THE KMC
25 June 2018
Question 1: In the PWS section 1.1.5. it reads "Remove and reinstall all items, including items to access areas, to be cleaned. Return systems and items back to a clean state and their original location." Please specify items to be removed. Will be removed and reinstalled the hood, the ducts, the filters, the dumpers and all the related items of the installation or will be removed and reinstalled only the hood's filters and the other components will be cleaned on site where they are installed?
Response: On some of the systems the motor needs to be removed (only two or four screws to flip the motor). Larger systems have metal plates to open the ducts for cleaning purposes.
Question 2: In the PWS section 1.2.4. HOURS OF OPERATION. It reads "The Contractor shall coordinate all work to be accomplished IAW the contract with the COR, who will then coordinate with the building
Facility Manager (FM). Cleaning services may be required during non-business or off-hours (early AM or late PM), Monday through Saturday, with the exception of U.S. Government holidays, U.S. Government installation down days, and German national holidays. The time for cleaning services to be performed shall be coordinated with the COR before any work is scheduled." Please specify if the cleaning services will be complete during non-business or off-hours ONLY.
Response: Estimated cleaning times were updated in the Performance Work Statement
(Attachment 2), dated 13 June 2018. Please reference the last two columns in appendix D.
Question 3: Is there any time restriction for the cleaning service works completion per system or the systems will be shutted down until the cleaning service will be completed?
Response: There are no time restrictions other than the projected times when the Fire
Department will complete the inspection (Please reference the last column in appendix D).
Question 4: Is there any drawings or photos from a typical installation in order to estimate the works load per system?
Response: We have no photos or drawings only Appendix D with the sizes of the systems.
