Blast Media Responses to Questions #3
1. The dust extraction unit shall be located in a separate utility room – how far away from the blast booth will this be and will we have to penetrate the wall for vent ducting?
Answer: The extraction unit should be as close to the booth as possible considering this unit is to be placed outside. There should be no reason to penetrate the existing building for this installation.
2. If the wall is to be penetrated – what is the make up and thickness of the wall?
Answer: N/A
3. Emergency shut off located both inside and outside of the facility? Does that mean the blast booth or the building the blast booth is located in?
Answer: Emergency shut off located inside the blasting area of the booth as well as on the outside of the blast facility itself.
4. One of the posted questions – concerning Fire alarm system – this equipment is to be equipped with fire suppression system?
Answer: No, just have the capability to be wired into our facilities existing fire alarm service for an audible and visual alarm notification.
5. In the event of a fire alarm – what do you want the control panel to do – shut down everything.
Answer: Yes, shut down the entire blast booth.
6. There are no Emergency Back Up lights if the complete system is shutdown – do you have your own emergency lighting back up system?
Answer: No. The system should have an emergency back up power supply to power enough lighting to safely exit the booth.
7. We are to route any plumbing on the interior to incorporate utility and breathing air outlets. I would understand that you will bring breathing air to the booth – we can provide the terminations inside – but need to know how many terminations are required. We would expect the breathing air lines to have regulators and ball valves included before they penetrate the blast booth?
Answer: There will need to be at least two terminations inside the booth. These lines will be routed to the booth from our existing breathing air system.
8. Utility air for the dust collector reverse pulse will come from Plant air – provided by Base or from Compressed air provide with the blast machine?
Answer: Utilized from compressed air provided with the blast machine.
9. The compressor shall have its own control panel – Base will make the termination of electrical to the compressor as well as the Blast Booth control panel?
Answer: Yes
10. Recovery system shall be a single screw – literally – only one screw?
Answer: No. Other means of recovery will be accepted providing documentation shows the effectiveness and efficiency of the system to minimize the maintenance performed in order to keep the facility operational.
11. Can you please confirm that this booth is to be situated outside in the open air. We are proposing a weatherproofed containerised style system that will be fully welded to ensure that there is no moisture ingress issues. Looking at the list of questions this has never been clarified and i believe other prospective contractors may be proposing a standard internally sited type structure. We can also offer internally sited if this facility is located indoors in one of your existing buildings.
Answer: This is for outdoor use.
