1.5. Activated Carbon MG 950: Granular activated carbon to be used in the performance of this contract shall be type MG 950 from selected bituminous mineral carbon, by means of a thermal activation process. Carbon shall be subjected to successive processes of reactivation with excellent recovery of its characteristics. The utilization of the carbon in a fixed bed filter system is recommended as it permits a minimum of loss during the processes of backwash and regeneration. The MG 950 carbon contains a high proportion of pores on the low range of meso porosity, which provides high performance in the processes of the potability of surface or well water.
