SOLICITATION FA5575-07-R-0010, INSTALL AIRFIELD FIRE HYDRANTS

QUESTION AND ANSWER

QUESTION:

Dwg C-576-04, details "Tapping Sleeve and Valve Installation Detail" and "GGG-50 Cast Iron Clamp", indicates to install a clamp for the hydrants connection of 8"x6". It is not possible to install a clamp fitting at a main line of 8" with a branch connection of 6". As an alternative way to perform a branch connection is cutting the main line, installing two universal cast iron flanges with one reduced flanged TEE of 8"x6"x8".

ANSWER:

the "Tapping sleeve and valve installation detail" on drawing C-576-04 should be changed to the following alternative:

Install two universal cast iron flanges with one reduced flanged TEE 8"x6"x8", by cutting the main line where a 6" branch connection is needed, instead of installing a tapping sleeve as shown on drawing. All metallic material shall be epoxy coating.

Contractor shall consider the cost estimate for this item in the lines shown on AF form 3052 as "Clamp T connection/Manguito de conexión T"
