1. RFI#5 - Please elaborate the response "Yes, installation shall be performed by manufacturer certified specialists as was required in the past."
Additional Question: Is there a certified specialist certificate requirement for this install? Please provide sample certificate.
a. There is not a certificate requirement; the installer should be certified by the manufacturer to install the product.
2. RFI#18 - Please elaborate the response "We (the Gov't) will provide asbestos testing results for the building but the contractor must dispose of carpet in legal necessary fashion regardless of asbestos presence."
Additional Question: When will the Government provide the Asbestos test results? If the test results are positive, who abates the asbestos? How about areas without any testing, will there be additional testing?
Will a modification be issued for asbestos abatement, if found unforeseen?
a. The Government will provide testing results currently maintained for Blds 758, 613, and 151. Should further testing or abatement/disposal actions be required, the Government will issue a modification for this work.
3. Regarding the 3 RFQ’s for building 613, 151 and 758, the question and answer attachment item number 14 asks about areas to be carpeted. In the government’s response, it is indicated that the following areas shall not receive carpet; “…areas such as entryways, stairwells, kitchens, mech rooms, utility rooms, restrooms, and laundry rooms will not be carpeted. Carpet installation will only occur to replace any/all existing carpet within the building.” This response does not address the interior hallways of the buildings. Do the existing interior hallways of the buildings have carpet and are they to be replaced as part of this solicitation? If the existing hallways are to be replaced, will they use the same grade of carpet that will be installed in the dorm rooms and will that installation also be done via the stretch in method of installation over padding? Stretch-in installation over padding is not recommended for use in hallways.
a. The existing areas of carpet are the hallways, individual rooms (to exclude individual bathrooms and kitchenette areas) as well as common rooms (one per floor in each dormitory). Hallway areas are to be included in the installation and should be installed in a fashion recommended for longevity of the carpet life. The same grade of carpet should be used throughout the buildings.
