About this file

The document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a Double Flare Machine, detailing precise technical requirements for the equipment. The machine must be capable of producing single and double-lap flares, and upset beading on various metal tubing (aluminum, steel, CRES, and titanium), with specific dimensional, operational, and material constraints. Key specifications include pneumatic power operation, a maximum size of 36in x 24in x 48in, ability to work with tubing from 1/8in to 3/4in OD, single lever operation, and compliance with Military Spec (MS) 33583 for flaring angles of 37 and 45 degrees.

The machine must be constructed of steel for corrosion resistance and include an operation and maintenance manual. It requires standard tooling for MS and SAE Flare Specifications, with capabilities to double lap, single flare, and bead annealed ferrous and nonferrous tubing across various outer diameters. These detailed requirements suggest a precision industrial tool likely intended for specialized manufacturing or maintenance operations within the Department of the Air Force's Pacific Air Forces.

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

In detail, please describe those physical, functional, performance, or material element qualities of an item that are essential to ensure that the intended use of the item can be satisfactorily realized.

1. The Double Flare machine must have ability to produce single flares, double-lap flares, and upset beading on aluminum, steel, CRES, and titanium tubing.

2. The Double Flare machine must not exceed the dimensions of 36in x 24in x 48in (L x W x H).

3. The Double Flare machine must have standard tooling for MS and SAE Flare Specifications

4. The Double Flare machine must be pneumatically powered, NO ELECTRICAL connection.

5. The Double Flare machine must have the capacity to double lap 1/8in to 1/2 in OD, annealed ferrous or nonferrous tubing.

6. The Double Flare machine must have the capacity to single flare 1/8in to 3/4 in OD, annealed ferrous or nonferrous tubing.

7. The Double Flare machine must have the capacity to bead 3/16in to 1/2 in OD, annealed ferrous or nonferrous tubing.

8. The Double Flare machine must have operation and maintenance manual.

9. The Double Flare machine must have ability to produce single/double flaring angles of 37 degrees and 45 degrees in accordance with Military Spec (MS) 33583

10. The Double Flare machine must be single lever operated.

11. The Double Flare machine must be made from steel due to its corrosion resistance

12. The Double Flare machine must have operation and maintenance manual.
