About this file
The document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a Double Flare machine for the 36th Maintenance Squadron (36 MXS). The detailed requirements specify a pneumatically-powered machine with precise capabilities for flaring and beading tubing made from various materials including aluminum, steel, CRES, and titanium. Key technical specifications include dimensions of 36in x 24in x 48in, standard tooling for MS and SAE Flare Specifications, and the ability to produce single and double flares with 37 and 45-degree angles in accordance with Military Spec 33583.
The machine must have specific operational capacities, including double lapping tubing from 1/8in to 1/2in OD, single flaring from 1/8in to 3/4in OD, and beading from 3/16in to 1/2in OD for annealed ferrous and nonferrous tubing. Additional requirements include being constructed of steel for corrosion resistance, single lever operation, and inclusion of an operation and maintenance manual. This specification is part of a 100% Small Business Set-Aside solicitation (FA524024QM145) issued by the Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces, with a response deadline of 23 June 2025.
