About this file

This document is an attachment describing the salient characteristics for two vehicle maintenance training aids being solicited under Federal Contract Opportunity FA524024QM061.

The first training aid is for an Electrical Panel for Lighting and Ignition, which must be mobile with wheels, include headlight assemblies, a charging system with alternator and battery, and controls for high/low beams, warning lights, reverse lights, brake lights, and turn signals. It must also have an ignition coil, distributor cap, and rotating handle to simulate an internal combustion engine ignition system.

The second training aid is for an ABS Braking System Panel, which must include cutaway disk brakes with wheel speed sensors, a servo brake booster with brake pedal, an ABS pump, and an ABS control module. It must have color-coded wiring and a diagram identifying the major components.

The overall Federal Contract Opportunity is an RFQ for these two Vehicle Maintenance Training Aids, to be delivered directly to Andersen AFB in Guam. Responses are due by 10 July 2024 at 1:00 PM Chamorro Standard Time.

Attachment 1 – Salient Characteristics

36 LRS – Vehicle Management Training Aids

Salient Characteristics required for Vehicle Management Training Aids

1. Electrical Panel for Lighting and Ignition Characteristics needed: Training aid needs to be mobile with wheels attached to the training board. It needs to have rear and front headlight assemblies attached to the board with pin out points for voltage testing. It needs to include a charging system in the form of an alternator and battery. Needs to have high and low beam buttons, four-way warning lights button, reverse lights button, brake lights button, and signal lights buttons. Will also include an emergency stop button that can shutdown the training aid down in case of an emergency. It needs to have an ignition coil wired to a distributor cap with four spark plugs. Under the distributor cap there will be a rotating handle to allow for electrical charge build up that will be sent to the spark plugs to simulate the ignition phase of an internal combustion engine.

2. ABS Braking System Panel Characteristics needed: Training aid needs to have two solid disk brake cut aways with mounted wheel speed sensors on both disk brakes. Disk brakes will include brake calipers with brake pads attached on the rotors. Will include a cutaway servo brake booster with a brake pedal attached, a cutaway ABS pump, and an ABS control module with an electronic control unit. It needs to have color coded wires and lines going from the abs pump, and abs control module respectively. Finally, it needs a diagram located on the training aid that highlights and labels all major components of the system.
