About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation FA521525Q0038, detailing specifications for a mini-mezzanine storage cabinet system for the 15 MXS Propulsion Flight of the Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces. The Q&A provides extensive technical details about required cabinet configurations, including 14 60-inch wide and 11 30-inch wide housing units with multiple drawer sizes ranging from 4.6" to 14.1" in height, all lockable. The system requires a stairway/rail kit, with cabinets configured in a back-to-back arrangement on the first floor and single-sided on the second floor, featuring a mezzanine platform approximately 4 feet 11 inches high.
Key additional details include that the contractor must provide a forklift for material handling, divider kits are required for drawers, and no structural analysis report is needed. The system is designed to securely store specialty tools, tool kits, engine test equipment, Due-In-For-Maintenance parts, and hazardous materials. The Q&A document clarifies that in cases of discrepancy between the concept rendering and parts list, the parts list should be followed. No response date extension or specific safety yellow painting of handrails was mandated beyond standard requirements.

FA521525Q0038 Questions & Answers 8/27/2025
1. Regarding the cabinets for this project, do you have specific drawer sizes (heights)that you are look-ing for? This information was collected from the end user and from market research as a possible solution, but it is not mandatory. Other variations can exist.
These are the size specifics that we are looking for (All drawers must be lockable)

We also need a stairway/rail kit. The front side of the cabinet system will be stacked with the stairway/rail system. The first floor will be back-to-back cabinets. The second floor will be just the single (front) cabinets.
2. Modular cabinets typically do not have vents for airflow, do you have a photo or drawing of what you are looking for?
No vent holes are required for our needs; however, below is a rendition of exactly what we need.
3. Rollout tray- is this like a rollout work surface, and not a drawer?
Rollout tray are drawers with no faces. See attached.
4. Would these work for the 60” and 30” wide cabinets (see attached). These can be ordered with or without the cabinet drawer inserts on the right side of the drawings. These both offer a variety of drawer sizes. These are also lockable with one key unlocking all of the drawers.
If the layout is customizable, then yes. The rendered picture will work.
9/17/25 For the 60” wide cabinets there are only 39 total drawers for 14 cabinets, which is less than 3 drawers per 59” tall cabinet. The tallest height drawer for the 60”w x59”h cabinet is only 14.1”.
For the 30” wide cabinets there are only 63 drawers for 11 cabinets which are mostly short drawers.
There are not enough drawers listed on the table to fill out the cabinets.
The requested design element will accommodate all cabinets and drawers because the lower partition needs to be double-sided per the Summary Description.
📁📁 Cabinet Details Lower and upper cabinets include a variety of shallow and deep drawers.
Cabinet configurations include lockable drawers for secure storage.
Drawer styles and depths vary for tool/equipment flexibility.
Front panels and housings have slotted vents for airflow or visual ID.
Lower cabinets will have a front and back cabinet or back-to-back system where drawers will be on both the front and back side of the unit.

| 1. | Mezzanine platform height: Approx. 4 ft. 11.13 in, this is not high enough for an adult top walk under comfortably and that follow OSHA guidelines, can you please confirm the desired height? (8’ minimum is recommended for the lower partition) |
| 2. | Can we use shelving with cabinet drawers to comply with the minimum clear height required? This will allow for shelves to be used over the cabinets as additional storage. |
| 3. | Is bar grating an acceptable flooring? |
The walking platform will not overhang above the lower drawers and shelves since the lower partition serves as the surface of the walking platform. Refer to images above.

1. There are clearly more drawers in the concept rendering for both 60” & 30”W cabinets than what is listed on the parts list. Totals: 30”W (74 concept/67 parts list) 60”W (48 concept/35 parts list) The roll out shelves match. You mention that there are other variations but it’s important to understand what the end user is expecting to be delivered and installed. How should this be addressed?
0. Should we follow the concept drawing or the parts list? Follow the parts list.
1. The example elevation drawing of a 60”W and a 30”W both show divider kits.
· Are divider kits required on both 30” and 60” drawers? Yes
1. The description is mini-mezzanine, and a mezzanine requires anchoring to the slab and a structural analysis by a PE.
2. Is a structural analysis report required with wet stamped drawings for this storage system with OSHA stairs and handrail for base CE to review? No
1. Can you extend the response date by one day? Yes
1. Does the end user have a warehouse forklift for off-loading material from the truck and lifting cabinets in place or is that the responsibility of the contractor to provide that equipment? No, they do not own a forklift, the contractor will have to bring one.
1. Can the handrail and stairway be painted safety yellow instead of matching the cabinet color? If it’s an OSHA safety regulation requirement, sure. Other than that, painting the rails yellow is NOT a requirement from us.
