Site Visit Questions Building 1561, 1562, and 1563

Q: From the site visit, we saw some cables still connected in the residence rooms. Shall we remove all existing cables and legacy cables? If we remove them all, is there any specific instructions to recover its appearance?

A: PWS states to remove 90% of the legacy cabling, we understand that some of it may be impossible to remove. Utilize blank faceplates in areas with removed cabling.

Q: We assume that most conduits and wiring are concealed in the wall or ceiling. Is there specific instruction for wiring systems of concealed conduit wiring or surface conduit wiring in residents, communication rooms, and hallways, and driveways?

A: Utilize blank faceplates in areas with removed cabling. The contractor is required to dispose of the legacy cabling.

Q: For core drilling, is it necessary to take X-ray pictures?

A: The 4” holes between the communications room requires x-ray, the access points into each apartment does not require x-ray. The contractor is required to complete an AF Form 103 Work Clearance Request through CES.

Q: Do the materials of living room’s ceiling, walls contain asbestos? If yes, shall contractor include the ACM abatement costs including sampling and analysis in their estimate/quotation?

A: Asbestos reports were made available. The plaster on the walls contains asbestos and some of the ceiling tiles. Also containing asbestos is the floor boards and some of the floor tiles, we ask that you wear appropriate protective equipment. Utilize industry standards when cutting the ceiling tiles.

Q: Please advise LAN cable’s fire-resistant rate.

A: The space according to HVAC is not plenum rated. Therefore, riser cable is authorized and plenum is not required.

Q: Shall the wiring be ceiling-concealing- type? Is mold type acceptable?

A: Cable should be hid in the ceiling and then dropped into a gang box using surface raceway like Panduit.

Q: As to size of inspection hall (TENKENKOU in Japanese) of ceiling, is 450 x 450mm acceptable?

A: Yes

Q: The PWS states to install 6-strand multimode fiber optic cable between Cabinets A-B, A-c and A-D. The first-floor drawings show a 12-strand fiber cable to the remote cabinet.

0. Are all fiber cables to be 6-strand multimode?

0. What multimode core size is required, 62.5 or 50?

0. Shall it be assumed the “B” Cabinet is located on the 1st Floor Rec Area, “C” Cabinet is located on the 5th Floor and the “D” Cabinet is located on the 8th Floor?

A: No Multimode. The PWS states Single Mode Fiber. It also states 6 strand. Communications racks are on the 2nd 5th and 8th floor. With one rack in the recreation room on the first floor.

Q: The PWS and Drawings identify a junction box installed within each Comm Room, is there a specific size requested?

A: Junction boxes are not required, you can formulate any proposal as long as wire management is 100% clean and utilize firestop between floors. If using junction boxes consider a 60% fill capacity for size.

Q: Are we able to install J Hooks above the ceiling space?

A: J-Hooks are authorized.

Q: Can you please confirm if plenum is required?

A: Plenum is not required.
