About this file

This document specifies salient characteristics and requirements for custom-fabricated OBS (On-Board Storage) kits needed by the 962 Aerial Munitions Unit (AMU). The requirement is for nine units of high-impact polypropylene plastic storage containers with precise dimensions to accommodate over $4 million in aircraft spare parts. The containers must meet exact specifications: exterior dimensions of 27.5L x 19.5W x 28H inches maximum and interior dimensions of 25.5L x 17.5W x 26H inches minimum, with 1.5-inch wall thickness. Each kit requires an all-catch removable (non-hinged) lid, 1-inch interior liner, plastic handles, black corrosion-resistant hardware, and an air/watertight seal to protect contents during off-station flights.

The document includes a measuring guide and part number structure that details how to specify custom configurations, including provisions for fork truck handling, interior height variations for lids versus bases, and parting line dimensions. The OBS kits are mission-critical items used on every off-station flight to increase the probability of resolving common non-flyable aircraft issues. No pricing terms, response dates, award dates, or set-asides are specified in this document, which functions as a technical specification and measuring guide for potential contractors manufacturing these specialized containers.
