SUBJECT: Questions and Answers Submitted for FXSB 21-1068 Repair Remove Wallpaper and Paint Offices Building 11550 - JBER-E, AK. Site Visit held 19 April 2021.
1. The purpose of this document is to provide answers to the questions submitted by contractors regarding the subject project.
Q1: In Room 202, will we be required to move the SIPR line coming into the room? It is attached to the Wainscot?
A1: The contractor is not required to move the SIPR lines in Room 202. The Communications shop will move them so that the contractor can remove the oak wall covering and paint. The Communications shop will then install the short section of raceway back on the wall once the contractor’s scope is completed.
Q2: The Conduit behind the desk in Room 202 that seems to be disconnected, do you want that completely removed?
A2: Yes, Cut the conduit off flush at the floor penetration and seal the end of the conduit with red fire caulking.
Q3: The SIPR boxes throughout the space, do you want the wallpaper cut around them and then taped around when painted?
A3: Yes.
Q4: Has the glue behind the wallpaper been tested for asbestos?
A4: Testing has been conducted throughout the area where the work is to be completed and those test results are being delivered with the answers to the questions.
Q5: Do you want the closet at the end of the East Hallway demoed as was mentioned in the site visit?
A5: The makeshift wood framed shelves are to be removed from the closet, the closet door rail bracket removed from the door opening, the sheet rock repaired where fasteners were located, and the walls finished in the same manner as the rest of the space.
Q6: Do you want the brown Base trim on the stairwell to be repainted? If so, do you want the interior stairwell posts painted too?
A6: No, do not paint the base trim or the stairwell posts in the stairwell. Only walls and ceilings.
Q7: Can the stairwell walls be painted eggshell instead of semi-gloss?
A7: Yes.
Q8: Do you want the ceilings in the stairwell painted as well as the walls?
A8: Yes
Q9: Can you confirm that the new cove base is no longer part of this SOW?
A9: The cover base is no longer part of the scope of work.
Q10: Would an extension on the period of performance be considered? 30 days from NTP is not enough time for this project if given out in more than two (2) phases.
Please consider more time allowance for the project.
The wallpaper removal, wall prep, mudding, prime, texture, painting and cleaning is a 10-working day process for each phase. Each application must be allowed to dry properly before the next step. It is a process that takes time. This does not include all the work that needs to be done before and after it is handed over to the painting and taping crew.
A10: Yes, however the portion of the offices where the Commander sits is the priority of focus and when that space is available, every effort to expedite that office area will be required.
Q11: Is the stairwell to be textured or remain smooth wall?
A11: Stairwell texture is to remain as it is now, just repaint it with 2 finish coats of paint
Q12: In the stairwell, are the ceiling and walls only to be painted? Or are the stringers, railing and trim to be included?
A12: See Question 6.
Q13: Please confirm the display cases will be emptied by user.
A13: Confirmed, Users will empty the display cases prior to contractor moving them.
Q14: Please confirm Removal of wood shelving in closet outside of room 210.
A14: Confirmed, see Answer 5.
