Inquiries_RFP #: FA5000-20-R-0021 Dated: 7 May 2020

Combined Synopsis/Solicitation ‘Combo’: ADDITIONAL INQUIRIES_20200604

Contemporary Worship Service Musician and Music Director

The following additional Inquiries were submitted on the solicitation and the Answers are listed below.

Question:

1) IN SECTION 1.2.1.5 OF THE PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT STATES THAT “MUSIC

DIRECTOR SHALL BEAR ANY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PURCHASE OF MUSIC,

EXCEPT FOR MUSIC FUNDED BY THE CHAPLAIN TITHES AND OFFERING FUND.” PLEASE

SPECIFY WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC IS COVERED UNDER THE FUND. DOES JBER HAVE A CCLI

LICENSE? DOES THIS MEAN THE WORSHIP LEADER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PURCHASING MUSIC

AND PRACTICE COPIES FROM CCLI, OR IS THAT COVERED UNDER THE FUND? IF COVERED BY

THE FUND, WHAT WOULD THEN BE THE EXTRA ITEMS THE WORSHIP LEADER WOULD NEED TO

BUY? ARE YOU REFERRING TO CHOIR MUSIC OR SHEET MUSIC OF SOME KIND?

Answer: The Chapel has CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing International). If the Contractor does not want to use the music that is covered by this license then there is a budget for music (sheet music). If the Contractor does not want to use the music that was purchased or goes over budget they would be financially responsible.

Question:

2) QUESTION 2: ARE THERE EXISTING TEAM MEMBERS ALREADY IN PLACE TO SERVE

ALONGSIDE THE WORSHIP LEADER? AND IF SO, ARE THEY READY AND WILLING TO COOPERATE

WITH NEW LEADERSHIP ON THE WORSHIP TEAM?

Answer: There are volunteers currently working on the worship team. As this is a military environment people come and go due to PCS (Permanent Change of Station) therefore people are used to changes and are willing to work together as a team.

Question:

QUESTION 3: ALONG THE SAME LINES, ARE THERE MUSICIANS WHO HAVE “PRIORITY” OR

“SENIORITY” WHO ASSUME THEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE PART OF THE TEAM? IF SO, PLEASE

IDENTIFY, AND GIVE A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THEIR ROLE IN THE LEADERSHIP OF THE

TEAM. MORE SPECIFICALLY, IS THERE A CHOIR DIRECTOR OR KEY MUSICIAN WHO SHOWS UP

EVERY WEEK, EXPECTING TO HAVE A LEADERSHIP ROLE?

Answer: The Music Director has final say on everything in regards to the volunteers for worship.

Question QUESTION 4: SECTION 1.2.1 STATES THE MUSIC DIRECTOR AND MUSICIAN WILL BE RESPONSIBLE

FOR WEEKLY CHOIR/WORSHIP TEAM REHEARSALS. IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO KNOW WHICH

ONE (OR BOTH) IS EXPECTED, SO WE KNOW HOW TO INTERVIEW AND SELECT A CANDIDATE.

ARE YOU WILLING TO ACCEPT A WORSHIP LEADER THAT IS NOT WELL ACQUAINTED WITH

DIRECTING A CHOIR? SINCE THIS IS A CONTEMPORARY SERVICE, IS A CHOIR EVEN NEEDED? IF

THERE IS A CHOIR IN PLACE ALREADY, HOW FLEXIBLE ARE THEY TO BECOMING PART OF A

WORSHIP TEAM AS WELL AS A CHOIR? AND LASTLY, WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE A

TRADITIONAL CHOIR DIRECTOR, OR WORSHIP TEAM?

Answer: Currently the Chaplain does not use a choir so the director will only need to play music and sing at the same time.
