Solicitation No: FA500020Q0067 Project: Asbestos Abatement Bldg 10488 Subject: Amendment for Questions and Answers

The purpose of this amendment is to clarify and answer the questions submitted by the contractors.

Q1: Is cove base required in room 120?

A1: Yes, cove base is required for room 120

Q2: Is there a carpet and/or cove base specification? What kind of carpet / cove base should be installed?

A2: For the areas that are receiving carpet, we are requesting carpet squares to be installed. The original carpet quote in the packet has the color/type already selected. If another company is requesting, we can certainly select color/type/brand with another company. We are requesting to have a similar cove base as we currently have. Not sure what options the bidding company offers. By looking at Lowe’s, it would be a Thermoplastic Rubber Wall Base. Something in neutral color (black ESD matting will be placed after this project is complete).

Q3: Specifically what materials are asbestos containing (e.g., tile, tile mastic, and/or cove base mastic)? Please provide any available sampling results.

A3: See testing results in attached documents. Any questions will need to be directed to Asbestos testing personnel.

Q4: Will the contractor be required to move, store, or otherwise work around any owner/occupant furniture, equipment, personal items, etc.?

A4: Only if indicated in the SOW

Q5: Will the owner/occupants be responsible for moving and/or storing furniture, equipment, personal items, etc.?

A5: Yes

Q6: Is carpet to be installed under any cabinets, server racks, other fixtures, etc?

A6: No.

Q7: Is existing flooring to be removed from under any cabinets, server racks, other fixtures, etc.?

Q7: In room 120, the tile flooring is under the telephone rack on both sides. This will need to be removed. Rack is a permanent fixture and cannot be moved. Abatement of tile as far as the equipment can fit.

Q8: Will any extended work hours or work on weekends be allowed?

A8: No. Can provide escort if contractor wishes to work on weekends and only if this is permissible in the SOW.

Q9: Typically access to areas is restricted during abatement. Are there any areas that will require continuous access during asbestos abatement? If so, which areas?

A9: Access to room 221 (not being abated) needs to have access at all times. When working on room 120 (telephone frame) will need to have access to 121 when needed.

Q10: How many areas will be available for contractor work at any given time?

A10: Work will need to be conducted in sections or phases throughout the building. This is to move personnel and furniture. Contractors will have access to sections of the building when working the abatement sections.

Q11: Considering escort requirements, how many rooms will the contractor be able to work in concurrently?

A11: Entire areas will be available to the contractor & in worked phases.

Q12: How will the work be phased through the different rooms?

A12: Will work with contractor on phases going from back of building to front.

Q13: Is access to areas of work dependent upon completion of previous areas?

A13: Yes. Completion of one area allows building occupants to move personnel and furniture so next phase can be worked and completed.

Q14: No room numbering is provided on the attached floor plan. Please provide a floor plan indicating room numbering.

A14: Please see attachment, Rooms with carpet as follows: 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 109, 115, 116 and hallway at main entry and at women’s bathroom entry, 118, 119, 123 and 124.

Q15: Per DESCRIPTION OF WORK AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS (Section 3 of SOW), please confirm that only carpet needs to be removed from the following: rooms 107, 109, 115, hallway between 100 and 103, and the two 10x10 areas in front of the latrines.

A15: Please refer to answer above.
