STATEMENT OF WORK

Carpet Removal/Installation in Building 17508, Second and Third Floor offices and Hallways.

SECTION 1: PROJECT INFORMATION

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Perform work as described in this document. The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and other items as necessary to perform removal of furniture, set up, remove old carpet and install new carpet (29,880 sqft roll carpet in offices/hallways and 388 sqft carpet tile in 2nd floor Auditorium/Theater Rm 212 ).

PROJECT LOCATION: Bldg. 17508 Airlifter Drive, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. SECTION 2: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

SCHEDULE:

Provide a minimum 21 business days’ notice prior to start of work in building 17508.

The work shall be scheduled so that it will be completed Monday thru Friday.

Provide minimum 24 hours’ notice when ready to begin work. The contractor will remove all furniture (Not to include office automation/phones /electronics/computers/workout equipment/ vending machines/pool tables/metal lockers) from the room prior to work starting, and will replace all items back into the room after the flooring is complete. A joint acceptance inspection shall be conducted prior to the government resuming use of completed room.

WORKMANSHIP: All work shall be accomplished in accordance with all applicable building and fire codes.

WORKSITE:

2.3.1. The building will be occupied and operating during site work. The contractor shall make efforts to minimize interference to Government operations. The contractor shall coordinate and schedule work with the Facility Manager (Grant Schoaf or TSgt Dan Knueve) prior to the start of any operation. The contractor shall dispose of all debris off base at an approved disposal facility.

SITE SECURITY AND PROTECTION: The contractor shall make every effort to secure the work site, allowing only authorized personnel to enter the work site. The contractor shall protect the site from damage from weather, vandalism, and/or theft.
DAMAGE TO EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS: The contractor shall be responsible to repair any and all damage incurred to existing Real Property/Grounds due to poor workmanship at no cost to the government.
HEALTH/SAFETY: The contractor shall be responsible for compliance with OSHA and AFOSH standards. The contractor shall maintain a clean and debris free site at all times. The contractor shall keep driveways and entrances into and around the work site clear at all times. The contractor shall not use driveways or entrances as employee parking or storage of materials unless otherwise stated. The contractor shall minimize storage of materials and equipment on site.
GREEN PROCURMENT: Contractor must incorporate “green procurement” principles into the design of their projects. Specifically, consult the EPA’s web site at www.epa.gov/cpg/products.htm for a listing of the products that have been mandated as green procurement requirements for purchases.

SECTION 3: DESCRIPTION OF WORK AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Existing Conditions
Remove furniture prior to carpet removal and replace furniture once carpet and carpet tiles are installed.
Remove and dispose of existing carpet as necessary to complete the work described in this document.
Provide a smooth, true, level plane for surface preparation of the carpeting/tile, except where indicated as sloped.
Protect all existing furnishings, equipment, and finishes that are not scheduled for removal. Return all existing finishes to pre-construction conditions. Patch and repaint walls damaged during flooring removal.

Finishes

Install carpet, commercial grade, high traffic. (See Attachment 2)
Provide and install new cove base to match existing. Height shall be 4.5” minimum or higher if required to cover existing glue area.
Provide adhesives for flooring, base and accessories as recommended by the manufacturer and comply with local indoor air quality standards.
