About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for the Cannon AFB-UAS Training federal contract opportunity. The Q&A addresses key details about the upcoming Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) training contract, including contract award timing (estimated late April to early May), training date flexibility (June alternative acceptable), and technical requirements. Specific points of interest include the government's openness to alternative coding platforms to Jupyter, flexibility in hardware selection for the detection module, and strict compliance with the American Security Drone Act of 2023, which prohibits procurement of UAS manufactured by certain foreign entities. The government will reserve a range on Cannon AFB for training purposes and emphasizes that selected hardware and processes must not create vendor lock-in for Airmen replicating the training.

Cannon AFB- UAS Training Questions
1) What date will the contract be awarded?
a) Estimated late April early May.
2) Are the training dates absolutely restricted in May.
a) June will be an acceptable alternative to the class.
3) Detection Module
a) Is process using Jupyter a non-flexible requirement? Would another simpler process/platform be acceptable?
i) Jupyter is flexible if the alternative does not cause vendor lock or licensing restrictions for our users attempting to replicate later. Also Jupyter is requested as using the markdown language will make it easier to implement a guide within the coding process, but the government is open to alternatives.
b) Is hardware for detection already determined? Are we able to choose the best hardware for executing the detection module?
i) Hardware has not been determined, and part of the request is that vendor chooses hardware. All we request is that the process learned can be replicated for Airmen to use on other devices that does not vendor lock them.
4) Can we optimize price for the class with some non-NDAA compliant parts?
a) No NDAA compliant parts are required
i) American Security Drone Act of 2023
(1) Section1823: Bans the procurement by the federal government of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) that are manufactured or assembled by certain foreign entities.
ii) The consolidated screening list is a searchable database of covered foreign entities.
(1) https://www.trade.gov/consolidated-screening-list/
5) Has a range been reserved or is flight approved on base.
a) The government will reserve a range on Cannon AFB.
