Q: Sediments are to be removed, if no contaminants are found, this can be disposed of at a landfill, is one available on

CAFB?

A: Just leave the sediments at the base of the tanks, there isn’t that much in each tank.

Q: When was the last time the tanks were cleaned?

A: 5 years ago.

Q: Are there inspection reports available?

A: Yes.

Q: How is access to the elevated tank that has no access supposed to be accomplished, will a site visit be allowed?

A: That tank doesn’t get cleaned.

Q: Is this work supposed to cover/report any sanitary survey deficiencies.

A: No.

Q: Does a sanitary survey need to be completed?

A: No, we just had one.

Q: How would a contractor estimate the “repairs” to be made to level indicator devices?

A: They should be able to estimate.

Q: Does the owner have all as built information on tanks, such as level indicators, material?

A: Yes.

Q: Do all of the tanks have a 24” roof hatch for access?

A: Yes.

Q: What are the ages of the tanks?

A: Varies from 1950 to 1994.

Q: The solicitation calls out “the contractor shall have cleaned all storage tanks while still in service up to AWWA industry standard C652-02”. While chlorine levels can be adjusted, per AWWA the tank cannot be disinfected while in-service. At a minimum it would have to be isolated, chlorinated to the specified level, then allowed to sit for an allotted time. Then bacteria samples are taken and sent to the lab for validation before the tank can be reconnected to service lines. Please advise.

A: The storage tanks may be isolated while being serviced, but must stay in service.
