Repair HVAC Bldg. 135

1. What is the size and location of access gate for the new fence?

A: The gate shall be 7’ X 7’. It shall be a double gate opening. Install on the “Plan West” side of the enclosure, ref M-101, HVAC Floor Plan.

2. Does the chiller need to be included in the TAB work?

A: No.

3. Does the boiler need to be included in the TAB work?

A: No.

4. Does the commissioning agent need to be independent of the TAB agent?

A: Yes.

5. What are the qualifications/certifications for the commissioning agent?

A: The Commissioning Specialist shall be an ACG Certified Commissioning Agent, a NEBB Qualified Commissioning Administrator, or a TABB Certified Commissioning Supervisor and shall be an employee of the approved Commissioning Firm.

6. The specifications and SOW require "aluminum" exterior double wall insulated duct. This project is in a minimum corrosive environment where a heavier gauge galvanized duct would be appropriate at a large savings to the government. The perforated liner could also be galvanized at a savings.

A: TBD

7. The exterior duct spec and SOW show the duct to be aluminum. Does this still require the duct to be painted to match the roof? Does the existing gooseneck have to be painted to match the roof?

A: No paint required.

8. The specification for double wall insulated spiral duct show to require a perforated inner wall. The double wall insulated rectangular duct spec does not show a requirement for a perforated inner wall is that correct?

A: Provide a perforated inner wall for both types.

9. Duct leak test? What duct pressure class is to be tested? Is the existing interior ductwork to be tested? The air handler is rated at 2.70 total static. SMACNA recommends not testing any duct under 3" wg.

A: Concur. No duct leak test required.

10. Is the exterior duct size shown on the drawings sized for the new 4800 CFM of AHU-2 or the existing units CFM? If it is sized for the existing CFM will new drawings be furnished with updated duct sizes?

A: Use duct sizes shown on drawings for new duct.

11. Sheet M101 keyed note 4 says install motorized damper but at the walk through we were instructed to change the speed only. The fans have an existing back draft damper is the motorized damper still a requirement?

A: The motorized damper is required for AT/FP biological threats. If the emergency shutdown switch is activated, all exterior penetrations must be able to close mechanically. The speed adjustment requirement has been removed from the SOW and drawings.

12. Are as-built close out shop drawings required to be stamped engineered drawings?

A: No.

13. According to the Statement of Work under Mechanical paragraph P "Install a new Alerton 1188 controller (#3 in drawings) and wire according to contract documents." It is my understanding that maintenance and repair on this control system has a proprietary lock with ACS Inc.; which means only ACS Inc. is authorized to work on this control system. I requested a bid from ACS Inc. and they explained that they will not bid this job. Therefore, I am confused how I would complete this requirement. Please clarify. Please see attached E-mail.

A: It looks like the wrong ACS was contacted. Please forward your proposal request to Mr. Kyle Orr (kmo@acsionline.com). He will provide a bid on B135.

14. Just want to verify all actuators & dampers will be reused (not replaced)

A: All valve and damper actuators can be reused. Dampers such as OA damper, RA Damper, and Multizone Damper should come with the new AHU and would not require reusing old dampers.

15. Much of the project piping, and duct work is not detailed in Contract drawings. Will additional information be provided prior to bid?

A: No additional information was planned for distribution. If you have specific questions regarding the ductwork and piping I will answer them.

16. Question- Can we use Victaulic fittings for the boiler water piping?

A: Grooved pipe joining techniques can be used. Please see specifications section 23 21 13 Hydronic Piping, 2.2, A, 1 for requirements.

17. Question- In regards to the air handling unit, would a different brand be acceptable that is considered equal to the existing listed Trane unit?

A: The Trane AHU was used for the design basis only. Any AHU that meets the design requirements will be considered.
