About this file
This is a Questions and Answers Matrix for solicitation FA4830, documenting contractor inquiries and government responses regarding the design and construction of a specialized trailer.
The solicitation concerns a mobile trailer designed to support Air Force operations with specific equipment and functional capabilities. Key clarifications provided address design flexibility and Government-furnished equipment. The Government confirmed that a portable 6'x2'6" dip tank will travel with the trailer empty and does not require installation. Regarding climate control, mini-split AC units are acceptable alternatives to roof units with no preference stated, as award will be based on Lowest Price Technically Acceptable. The Government specified one required electric air compressor (Bauer DMTII08E3, Three-phase electric, 208/230/460 VAC/60 Hz), with additional 120V auxiliary equipment accommodated. Exterior lighting must provide minimum coverage around the rear ramp and side door for safety, not full 360-degree coverage. An access panel must accommodate a generator with dimensions 30"(L) × 29"(W) × 26"(H) and operating weight of 246 lbs. Cabinetry must be suitable for high-moisture environments without material preference specified. The Government indicated no preference for bathroom location layout provided it remains functional with adequate entry/exit space. Standard ground clearance and height restrictions apply with no special GVWR requirement. Fourteen questions resulted in clarifications, with six generating changes to the RFQ regarding access panel specifications, bathroom facilities, freshwater dip tank references, and interior dimensions. Layout plans, schematics, and equipment weights will be coordinated upon contract award rather than specified in the solicitation.

Change Reference (Govt Use Only)
Example:
- Section X, RFQ
- SF 1449 Section B
Example:
Please confirm the submission requirement for the RFQ.
Yes/No
Example:
Section X, RFQ
1 Could the Government please provide additional information regarding the intended use and operational requirements of the freshwater dip tank, including:
•Required dimensions?
• Desired capacity (gallons)?
• Preferred location within the trailer?
• Any mounting or drainage requirements?
• Whether the tank is Government-furnished equipment or expected to be provided by the contractor?
The government is not requesting a Freshwater Dip Tank; this is simply a part of the equipment that the trailer will need to support.
We do not request a dip tank to be installed. There will be a portable 6’x2’6” dip tank that will be traveling with the trailer, empty.
No
2 Regarding the AC units: Is it acceptable to use a mini-split instead of roof units? as they are more efficient.
Acceptable. However, there will not be preference based on what equipment is used. As this award will be based on the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable.
No
3 We request clarification on the following points:
• Compressor Voltage: Are the two (2) required electric air compressors 120V or 240V?
• Exterior Lighting: Does the required LED lighting configuration need to provide full 360 degree coverage around the trailer, or should it be restricted to specific work areas like the rear ramp and side door?
Reminder that there is not requirement for these items to be provided. These are government items that the trailer needs to be able to transport/support. We will be using one electric compressor. Bauer: DMTII08E3, Three-phase electric, 208/230/460 VAC/60 Hz.
We will have other aux equipment that use 120V.
No
4 Exterior Lighting: Does the required LED lighting configuration need to provide full 360 degree coverage around the trailer, or should it be restricted to specific work areas like the rear ramp and side door?
360 is not required. Lighting around the rear ramp and side door at a minimum is requested for safety.
No
5 Access Panel Size: What are the minimum required dimensions (height and width) for the non-conductive external cable routing access panel?
I don’t think external cable routing is required.
What I require is an access panel to house a generator with dimensions: 30" (L) × 29" (W) × 26" (H) Operating Weight: 246 lbs.
Yes RFQ, Section II, Access Panel
6 Cabinetry Material: What is the squadron's preferred material for the front interior base cabinet to best handle the high-moisture environment?
The Government does not have preference over cabinetry material; the cabinetry material must simply be fit to handle the high-moisture environment.
No
7 Bathroom Location: Does the squadron have a preferred layout location for the enclosed bathroom?
The Government does not have preference on layout, only that it be functional and leave space for use and entry/exit.
Yes RFQ, Section II, Bathroom Facilities

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS MATRIX
8 Ground Clearance & Height: Are there specific minimum ground clearance or maximum overall trailer height restrictions for transport?
We have no special requirements other than the standard.
No
9 Freshwater Dip Tank: What is the minimum required capacity (in gallons) or dimension footprint for the freshwater dip tank?
We do not request a dip tank to be installed. There will be a portable 6’x2’6” dip tank that will be traveling with the trailer, empty.
Yes RFQ, Section I, Overview
10 Holding Tanks: What are the minimum required capacities (in gallons) for the onboard freshwater and waste holding tanks?
With the exception of the restroom there is not a requirement for additional water capacity.
No
11 Axle Configuration: Does the Air Force have a minimum required Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
(GVWR)?
No GVRW provided. No
12 Is there a layout drawing of how the trailer needs to be designed?
There are no solicited preferences for layout, plans and drawings may be coordinated upon award.
Yes RFQ, Section II, Dimensions
13 How should the interior be laid out?
There are no solicited preferences for layout, plans and drawings may be coordinated upon award.
Yes RFQ, Section II, Dimensions
14 It would also be helpful to know the schematics and weights for all equipment being installed post-production?
There are no solicited preferences for layout, plans and drawings may be coordinated upon award.
Yes RFQ, Section II, Dimensions
