About this file
This document is a set of questions and answers regarding a Spacesaver System procurement (Solicitation Number FA481425Q0067) for storing tools and small parts for support equipment. The system consists of 5 different shelving sections, each 8 feet tall, with a total of 20 shelves, 11 11" drawers, 33 5" drawers, 67 3" drawers, and 52 adjustable shelves. Drawer measurements are 45" wide by 22" deep, and the current system requires replacement due to damage to the bottom railing.
Key specifications include a mechanical system with turn-style handles (no current electronics), no loading dock or forklift for off-loading (but a roll-up door is available), and confirmed on-site dumpsters for trash removal. The shelving units have varied configurations, with some sections having solid materials, adjustable shelves, and different sizes of drawers. No existing shelving or mobile system parts will be re-used, and a previously considered desk is no longer part of the requirement. Weight capacity and subfloor specifications are currently unknown, which may require further clarification during the procurement process.

Drawer measurement is 45” Wide by 22” deep.
Do you know what types of items will be stored in the system?
Tools and small parts for support equipment.
• Is there a loading dock or forklift on site to off-load the truck?
No, there is a roll up door that would allow wide items to be brought in.
• Are there dumpsters on site for trash removal?
Yes
• Are there images of the damaged Spacesaver system that you can provide?
Please see attached. The bottom railing that guides the system is what was damaged.
• Are there images of each ‘distinct shelf type’ (static storage, mobile)?
Please see attached. There are different types of shelving. Both drawers and space above the drawers would allow us to have maximum storage. We are, however, able to work with different types of set-ups.
• How many mobile carriages are there (the units with turn-handles) and how many static sections are there?
There are 5 different sections to the system.
• In the SON, it states “The system utilizes a turn style handle for access” but also states “All electrical components exposed to water, including logic boards, safety systems, motors, and associated wiring harnesses, must be replaced.” Can you confirm if the new system required is mechanical assist with turn style handles or an electric system with push button access, motors, logic boards, etc?
The current system does not have any electronics attached. Please see attached for example of the turn style handle.
• Please provide the layout of the system required including length and number of carriages, elevation of the shelving units with number of shelves in each unit, weight capacity requirements of the shelves, end panel specifications, and subfloor specifications.
