Questions and Answers Solicitation FA481422TF022

1. The customer rendering does not show any dimensions which are a significant cost differentiator when it comes to cabinets. Can we please be provided: room dimensions, ceiling height, door width, height of upper cabinets, height of lower cabinets, The renderings are provided for informational purposes and provide an example of acceptable design elements. We are not requesting an exact reproduction of our rendering, but merely an approximation of it. That said, the room is 156 x 120 with a 10 foot ceiling. We want our shredder and printer enclosed. We want our safe under the cabinet with the front drawers accessible. The dimensions of the safe & shredder are provided in the rendering. The underside of the countertops should be 28.25” high (to allow for flush safe height of 28”). We would prefer a minimum counter depth (edge to wall) of no less than 24”. The upper cabinets should be roughly 33.5” high by 14” deep, with a top height of around 94” encircling the room, with a break on 1 wall for a large monitor. We would like the vendor to provide drawings or renderings of their own design which indicate that they understand our requirements and constraints.

2. On page 1 of 10 of attachment 2 I am not sure if the entry way is ADA compliant. There is no way to tell without dimensions. The in-swinging door does not look like it will clear the end of the cabinet but more importantly, the distance between the two countertop corners at the door does not look like it would afford the required 32” for ADA compliance.

The vault door is 35.5” wide, rests on a structural indent on the inside wall when open, and is not handicap accessible (nor required). The rendering is functionally accurate & the room was measured electronically & by hand.

3. Containing the safe within cabinets can be problematic. As I recall, there is a security requirement that a safe should have 6” clearance around it on all sides. I am not sure the cabinet as depicted would allow for that and I recommend the government check that security requirement. Also, will the doors for the shredder and safe areas bottom directly to the floor? Or, is the intention for the safe to be lifted and placed inside the cabinet? If it is to be placed inside the cabinet, what is the weight of the safe? I suspect it will weigh in excess of 500lbs and the cabinet will need to be constructed accordingly to prevent it from buckling and/or breaking.

The safe will be enclosed (at a minimum) by the countertop on top, and by cabinetry on the sides, depending on the design proposal. We do not require the front drawers to be hidden or enclosed, however if a design offering includes this, we would be happy to consider it. The safe will be resting on the flat on the floor, unobstructed by a toe/kick panel, so we can slide it out for inspection or replacement.
