About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) with responses dated 27 August 2025 for contract FA480925Q0124, focusing on a Diesel Mule MU44 end item and its engine. The RFI contains several technical inquiries and clarifications, including details about engine removal, transportation requirements, and current engine status. Key responses indicate that the engine will be disconnected but not fully removed from the test stand, and the contractor must provide their own equipment for transportation. The engine currently has 55 operating hours, and the government is only requesting work specified in the Performance Work Statement (PWS), with potential scope modifications if unknown issues are discovered during work performance.

The attached photos show a weathered, white Diesel Mule MU44 end item on wheels, situated on a concrete surface with a blue sky background, and a detailed close-up image of the diesel engine showing various mechanical components, pipes, and a filter. The equipment appears to be in a used condition with some rust and wear visible. The RFI suggests this is part of a maintenance or refurbishment contract for military or government equipment, with specific technical requirements for handling and potentially servicing the diesel engine.

REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION WITH RESPONSES

27 August 2025

C1. Can we have an extension on the due date?

RESPONSE: No extension is anticipated at this time. Any extension will be posted via Amendment at SAM.gov.

C2. I can access the PWS, but not the solicitation. Can you assist me with that?

RESPONSE: Soliciation document is re-uploaded at SAM.gov. Individuals still unable to open the document may email the POCs for the document to be emailed directly.

B1. Is the engine removed from the test stand? Or are we going to remove the engine from test stand?

RESPONSE: No. The engine will be disconnected to the point where the contractor will only need to pull it from the end item.

B2. If engine is removed from test stand, do we need to supply an engine stand for the engine to be shipped on?

RESPONSE: The contractor will need to pull the engine off the end-item with hoist and transport it.

The contractor will provide any equipment required for transportation.

B3. Any chance you can supply a picture of the test stand and engine?

RESPONSE: Photos are attached.

A1. How many hours are currently on the engine?

RESPONSE: 55

A2. And would you be interested in a full overhaul to guarantee no further issues would be of concern.

RESPONSE: Only work identified in the PWS is requested. Should unknown issues be identified during the performance of work, scope determination will be conducted to determine if either modification or separate requirement solicitation is appropriate at that time.
