About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a Hazardous Materials Gas Detector Rental solicitation (FA480925Q0014) issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command. The government is seeking to lease three gas detectors configured to detect five specific gases: O2, CO, H2S, LEL, and VOC/PID. The requirement includes accessories such as a desktop charger, docking station, regulator, gas cylinder, and wall mount, with a cloud-based Wi-Fi monitoring service for equipment defects and software upgrades.

Key details include the shipping address (Travis Mills, 2020 Jabara Ave, Goldsboro, NC 27531), an urgent delivery timeline ("as soon as possible"), and specific equipment specifications. The vendor will be responsible for automatic replacement of faulty or outdated detectors. The government anticipates using approximately two calibration gas bottles annually, and requires all three monitors to be identically configured with the specified gas detection capabilities. Quotes are to be submitted to two Point of Contact (POC) Air Force personnel: SrA Ashley Goodwin and TSgt Glinnis Thompson.

Lease of Hazardous materials gas detectors Q&A

We noticed there are no questions concerning the Cloud-based monitoring service, nor the automatic replacement of the detectors if they are faulty or out of date, which are large parts of the requirement. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about these 2 components, thank you.

1. Did you want more than 1 module for the 3 devices?

Without further information about what the vendor’s product can do as far as charging, bump testing, calibrating, etc., I cannot make an educated decision whether it will meet our needs and desires.

1. Accessories such as Cal gas bottles, regulators, tubing. You will need these items, but as far as calibration gas cylinders, because you need different quotes based on separate timeframes for rental, roughly how many bottles would you need on an annual basis?

The number of bottles of calibration gas(es) we need throughout a year depends on how much we use the gas detectors. Each emergency and/or training session is unique in their own way which could demand more or less use from the detectors, which in turn could use more or less calibration gas(es). On average, we use about 2 bottles of calibration gas(es) per year.

1. Based on the request, looks like you would need sensors for O2, CO, LEL (pentane) and PID for VOC measurements. Is this for all 3 monitors? If not, what are the other configurations (gases needed?)

The 5 gases we must detect are: O2, CO, H2S, LEL, VOC/PID. These are non-negotiables, and all 3 detectors shall be configured to detect the 5 gases: O2, CO, H2S, LEL, VOC/PID.

1. Ship to address, including ATTN to. Also, will need to know exactly when you need the equipment delivered.

Ship to: Travis Mills, 2020 Jabara Ave Goldsboro, NC. 27531. We need these detectors as soon as possible.
