Hi, The current 9 Nov 16 waiver letter only identifies one approved source. The F-16 System Program Office (SPO) working with the commodity Engineering Support Activity (ESA) are working with Seek Eagle (SE) to gain a Seek Eagle Report (SER) approving the MXU-648 Refurbished travel pod. Once the SER has been provided to the SPO, the ESA will provide source qualification requirements so that other suppliers can provide MXU-648 refurbished travel pods. The SPO and ESA are working SE but no firm dates are available at this time for when the SER will be available.
Responses to questions:
1. No, at this time the waiver letter only covers a single source.
2. The desired SER will provide the basis for the ESA to develop a MXU-648 refurbished travel pods Technical Data Package (TDP).
I realize this is not the answer you were hoping for. Approving another source to refurbishment MXU-648 and updating the waiver letter, is the only option that comes to mind. The challenge is what will the ESA use to approve another source prior to the SER and the resulting TDP.

Gentlemen, The 20th Contracting Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base is working a requirement to refurbish the 20th AMXS travel pods for the F-16 Fleet.
We've been working with AMXS on this requirement and we did not believe it to be of a nature that required SPO engagement (i.e. we believed that if the pods were refurbished IAW the repair/maintenance TO any firm could accomplish the work). After posting the requirement we were contacted by EhPro (see the attached Travel Pod Waiver) stating that they are the only mailto:warren.wood.4@us.af.mil mailto:christopher.jones.18@us.af.mil mailto:gary.hebert@us.af.mil mailto:gary.hebert@us.af.mil mailto:daniel.kane.8@us.af.mil mailto:randall.may@us.af.mil mailto:kristen.torma@us.af.mil mailto:kristen.torma@us.af.mil mailto:charles.leaghty.ctr@us.af.mil approved sources...this attached MFR does not reach that level in my opinion.
We would like to know:
1.) Can any firm repair the travel pods if done IAW the repair/maintenance TO for the travel pods?
2.) If so, do the pods need to go through Seek Eagle or are they sufficient to go back into service after repair (if validated by AMXS prior to use)?
Thank you for your time.
Maj Jones
