Statement of Work

Accutherm Furnace Model BHA-364848-982 Heat Control System Upgrade

For 846th Test Squadron

In Support of Metal Heat Treating Building 1185

1.0 PURPOSE

The 846 TS Metal Heat Treating shop located in building 1185, Holloman AFB, NM, has one large, one medium, and four small metal heat treating furnaces that are used to fabricate the test sleds for the Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT). The medium size furnace (Accutherm Model BHA-364848-982) measures 36” H X 48” W X 48” D and is used for most heat treating tasks because its size allows for most of the items to fit without interference and it takes less time and energy to bring up to the required temperatures than the larger furnace. This medium size furnace is 26 years old and it is experiencing an intermittent issue with its heater control system.

Over time, control systems become more antiquated and experience deterioration causing the control system to lose a significant amount of efficiency. Once this large percentage of efficiency is lost, the control system becomes susceptible to parts becoming brittle, connections fading, and parts failing. This furnace requires a new updated system that is highly efficient and has longer natural life cycles than parts made previously in 1992. This system must also be very user friendly and current. The Human Machine Interface (HMI) is a touch screen interface with a variety of operations and selections. By introducing an HMI to the new control system, the capabilities of the furnace will increase. The operator can scroll through the pages in the HMI for different operations, or scroll to a conventional screen for run mode. The HMI also has Ethernet capabilities for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), or desktop run mode if desired.

2.0 SCOPE

The Contractor shall provide personnel, software, and parts to perform the following heat control system upgrades on the Accutherm Model BHA-364848-982 furnace:

1) Provide an updated furnace control panel with the following features:

a. Software that can record the furnace cycles and temperatures on a 7 to 15 inch HMI touch screen.

b. The software must include an EasyConverter application that is used to view data log files and event log files that are created by the HMI during operation.

c. The EasyConverter application must be able to take a data or event log file and convert it into a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be easily imported into other applications such as Microsoft Excel.

d. The software must include data log files that are files the HMI creates when capturing data using the data sampling object.

e. The software must include event log files that are history files the HMI creates when using the event (alarm) log object.

2) Replace the existing transformer with an 80 KVA or greater transformer.

3) Provide all of the parts required to assemble and integrate the updated panel and transformer on the Accutherm Model BHA-364848-982 furnace.

4) Install the updated furnace control panel and transformer on the Accutherm

Model BHA-364848-982 furnace.

5) Conduct a functional test after upgraded panel and transformer installation to ensure proper operation. The test shall simulate normal operating conditions and shall be required to maintain no less than a specified amount of degrees Fahrenheit.

The Contractor will be responsible for providing labor and needed parts to perform the upgrades.
