About this file

This document is an Amendment 01 to a federal solicitation for laser etching systems, issued by the 28th Contracting Squadron at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. The amendment provides clarifications and answers to potential vendor questions about solicitation FA469025Q0022. Key requirements include procuring one machine with both fiber and CO2 lasers, a 3-jaw chuck rotary fixture, and software that is a one-time purchase and does not require internet connectivity. Acceptable software options include Corel Draw, EngraveLab Laser with PhotoLaser Plus, or a vendor's proprietary software package that meets the specified standalone criteria. The Air Force is open to potential delivery date extensions due to potential shipping or materials delays and confirms this is a brand new purchase, not a recompete or incumbent replacement.

ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, SOUTH DAKOTA

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

FROM: 28 CONS/PKB

1000 Ellsworth Street, Suite 1200 Ellsworth AFB SD 57706-4904

SUBJECT: Amendment 01, Solicitation FA469025Q0022, Laser Etchers.

1. The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions submitted by contractors. The questions will be represented by Q’s and the corresponding answers will be represented by A’s.

Q1: Please confirm are you looking for a system that has both the Co2 and Fiber optic source in 1 machine?

A1: We require a machine with both fiber and CO2 lasers in one machine.

Q2: We can supply a fume collector, but I will need specs on the laser system that you are supplying. Is there an airflow extraction rate specified? If not, I need to know the size of the enclosure, not just the workspace that was mentioned.

A2: This is for a complete system to include, Laser, Fume Extraction, Software.

Q3: Is there any incumbent/recompete or this is a brand-new project? If yes, could you please provide us with their award number or even if the customer bought similar services in the past.

A3: Brand new purchases

Q4: I have a question regarding the 2D CAD drawing software. Do you know the name of the software required? We have AutoCAD, but there are different versions, and I want to confirm if that is what is being requested. Could you please provide clarification on the specific software requirement?

A4: Either Corel Draw or EngraveLab Laser with PhotoLaser Plus. Either option must be a one-time purchase and does not require an internet connection to operate.

Q5: Do you require two machines, or one machine with two lasers installed (CO2 and fiber)? We offer two rotary fixtures: 1) a Rim-Drive Rotary for uniform symmetrical item engraving and, 2) a 3-Jaw chuck rotary for odd-shaped item engraving. We can offer one or both of these, please advise.

A5: 1 Machine with 2 lasers. 3 jaw chuck is preferred.

Q6: With shipping or materials delays possible, would an extension on delivery date be entertained?

A6: Yes

Q7: Our System utilizes our own proprietary software package for all design and print elements. Our custom designed system would be fully capable of supporting all design and printing functions. Would this system be required to be connected to an outside program or could our proprietary software be utilized in lieu of the 3rd party software package listed in the solicitation?

A7: A proprietary Software package can be acceptable if it is 100% stand alone and does not require an internet connection to operate. Also, it must be a 1 time purchase.

2. All other terms and conditions regarding the subject solicitation remain unchanged.
