About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a washer/dryer lease solicitation from the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The document clarifies requirements for washer and dryer quantities, with two acceptable configurations: either 72 standalone washers, 76 stackable washers, 72 standalone dryers, and 76 stackable dryers (296 total units), or alternatively 72 standalone washers, 72 standalone dryers, and 76 washer/dryer combo units (220 total units).

The document provides technical specifications including that all dryers require 4-prong electrical connections, vent hoses are approximately 5-8 feet long, and vents exit through exterior walls. Semi-annual maintenance requirements are detailed in PWS paragraphs 1.9-1.9.4. The facility has no elevators but offers 2,000 square feet of temporary warehouse storage space during installation. One outstanding question regarding payment terms for service calls (whether contractor will be paid for all 500 service calls if actual volume differs) remains unanswered pending input from the contracting specialist.

Questions and Answers 1

1. Q: ***Not a question, just a note from the customer***

A: I modified the first three sentences in paragraphs 1.2.1 and 1.2.2. to be more specific. I also updated the Appendix on Page 13. We are fine with stackable or combo units.

2. Q: Is Attachment 4 accurate as it seems misleading?

A: Also, after reviewing attachment 4, that is fine—there are no changes needed.

3. Q: How many washers and dryers are needed?

A: We are requesting:

72 washers (standalone)

76 washers (stackable)

72 dryers (standalone)

76 dryers (stackable)

Total is: 296

Alternatively, we can accept:

72 washers (standalone)

72 dryers (standalone)

76 washer & dryer (combo)

Total is: 220

4. Q: I believe you are requesting the lease of the following:

Your solicitation requests the following:

72 single washers 72 single dryers 76 combo washer dryers

My question is are the 76 combo units made up of one front load washer with dryer stacked on top or will you accept a unit that is all in one. see attachment:

A: We will accept stacked or a combo unit.

5. Q: Please provide exact number of single washers, single dryers and washer/dryer combo units. See attached with different numbers.

A: See my comments above and also in the updated PWS.

6. Q: Line item 0003 Maintenance (Semi-Annual) please explain what this involves.

A: Paragraphs 1.9 through 1.9.4 in the PWS provides details on what the Semi-Annual Maintenance entails.

7. Q: Is this line item for vent cleaning? If so, please provide more information about the vents to be cleaned. Such as do the dryer vents from the dryers go directly out the back wall of each dryer or do the vents go thru the interior wall to an opening on the roof?

A: Paragraph 1.9.1. describes what needs to be cleaned for the vents. A site visit is needed to show where the vents exit the facility, but I believe the vents go through the exterior wall to an opening on the side of the facility.

8. Q: Is the vent cleaning only from the back of each dryer to connection in wall?

A: Paragraph 1.9.1. describes what needs to be cleaned for the vents

9. Q: How long is the vent hose behind each dryer?

A: Approximately 5-8 feet. A site visit will be helpful.

A: Paragraph 1.2.2. discusses dryer specifications. All are 4 prong.

11. Q: Will you provide a secure staging area for the incoming new washers and dryers for installation?

A: We have a warehouse, and we can temporarily store approximately 2K square feet during the install phase.

12. Q: Do the buildings receiving new washers and dryers have elevators that can be used for installing the new units?

A: No.

13. Q: 500 service calls-- if there are fewer service calls will contractor be paid for 500 service calls if there are more than 500 service calls will contractor be paid for the additional service calls?

A: Ms. Hutton, I’ll need assistance from you on this.
