The system must also be able to alert the entire facility including 25 bunk rooms, one compressor room, and one gym. It must include turnout timers, LED display boards with emergency information, and compatibility with the MCC7500 dispatch console. Fire Station Alerting System

DYESS AFB, TEXAS

RFQ FA4661-23-Q-0111 // QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

SITE VISIT #1

Question 1. Will Flex Conduit be allowed in place of rigid?

Answer: No. Flex is not allowed in long runs in accordance with the NEC. The circuits need to be run in EMT conduit at the very least and coupled together with compression connectors and not screw type connectors. Flex conduit is only allowed in short runs of 6' or less and mostly for lighting drops from a box to the light fixture.

Question 2. Is a display board wanted in the compressor room?

Answer: If feasible and within budget, yes. However, it is not a priority.

Question 3. Are strobes wanted in the auxiliary gym?

Answer: Yes, but no display boards in the back room of the auxiliary gym. There should be a board in the primary room (cardio room) of the auxiliary gym.

Question 4. On page 2 of the statement of work, is there any significance to the highlighted sections of the fire station floorplan?

Answer: Those highlighted sections indicate the bunkrooms, compressor room and The two gyms where alert boxes will need to be placed.

Question 5. Other than integration with the MCC7500 dispatch console, is there any Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, on-base, or with an outside agency, that the alerting system would be required to communicate?

Answer: No, there is no other outside or on-base agency that we are required to communicate with that has a CAD system.

Question 6. Will the alerting system vendor have remote access to the alerting system controller/head-end equipment through a commercial or private network that would be used for 24/7 system monitoring, remote software updates, configuration changes or optional CAD delivery?

Answer: Yes, the vendor will have access through a private network.

Question 7. Is it a requirement for the Fire Station Alerting system to be able to control the opening of the truck bay doors?

Answer: No, it is not a requirement. If it can be provided that will be great but it’s not required.

Question 8. The SOW section 1.1 subsection a iii says 25 bunk rooms, but the revised drawing appears to have 29 bunk rooms highlighted. Is the requirement for 25 or 29?

Answer: The requirement is for 25 bunk rooms. We have 22 bunk rooms grouped together and then 3 separate bunk rooms at the front of the station.

Question 9. Do you want to reuse any of the components from the previous system or is it a total replacement?

Answer: Total Replacement

Question 10. If you want all new speakers, do you have a count?

Answer: We have not conducted a count yet. We would have to get a diagram of where all the speakers are in the facility. We do not have that currently.

Question 11. How many lights do you want throughout the system?

Answer: We do not know currently.

Question 12. Do you want any automation? Bay doors open? Gas shut offs?

Answer: No.

Question 13. How many display boards would you like?

Answer: 5

Question 14. How many different trucks are available for assignment?

Answer: 9

Question 15. Does turnout time need to be collected & stored by the vendor?

Answer: Yes.

Question 16. How will information (Crews responding/Type of emergency) be provided for Display Boards requested on SOW 1.1.a.v.?

Answer: Example "Engine 9/IFE" or "Engine 12/EMS".

Question 17. Do we need to provide any interface with a crash phone?

Answer: Yes. We will need the system to connect with our crash phone in order to receive IFE's and Ground Emergencies.

Question 18. Do each of the bunk rooms have existing speakers other than the Westnet First-In modules?

Answer: No, the only speakers in the rooms are the WestNet module and the Base Mass Notification speakers.

Question 19. The SOW states "capability to alert each room based on the truck that is assigned." So, with all the rooms there would be 27 different zones?

Answer: There will be 27 rooms however, I'm not sure what it means by zones. We want the individual in that room to be able to switch the module to the specific truck they are positioned on. Ex. If I'm on Eng 12, I will only get alerted for emergencies pertaining to Eng 12.
