About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a boiler inspection contract at Malmstrom Air Force Base, solicitation number FA462625Q0016. The Q&A provides detailed technical specifications about the boilers requiring inspection, including that they are watertube boilers manufactured by International Boiler Works, with a TJW-VC-85 model rated at 85 MMBTU/HR output. The boilers primarily use natural gas, with two boilers having coal as a secondary fuel source, and operate as high temperature hot water systems.
The document clarifies key inspection requirements, specifically noting that NBIC (National Board Inspection Code) certification is mandatory per Air Force Instruction 32-1068. Contractors are informed that thickness testing data and previous inspection reports will be available, which will help establish baseline measurements for the inspection process. The contract is being administered by the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command and involves comprehensive boiler inspection services at the base facility.
