Questions and Answers
1. Do you have plans available for this job? I can provide as-built drawings for the entry control points if desired—but the contractor would be responsible to field verify any as-built data supplied. I am not aware of any design work performed by CES for this project.
1. What is the location of these systems? Do you have site images? GPS Coordinates? 2nd Ave Gate and 10th Ave Gate. Images attached. From Google Earth, 2nd Ave Guard House is 47.507018, -111.203442 and 10th Ave N Guard House is 47.516598, -111.211061. Please see snips attached.
1. Are both systems at a gate entry/exit point in the same area? Or are these two separate locations? Same general area.
1. Are you only allowing radar activations for these systems? Radar can cause a lot of false alerts on wrong way detection, and we have better forms of activation such as Thermo (for wrong way) in addition with radar for the over speed. Tell us what you think is best. If in-ground then anything installed in the asphalt must be pre-coordinated with our Civil Engineering folks.
1. For the signage, we suggest our LED enhanced blinker signs that would only flash when a wrong way vehicle or over speed vehicle is detected. The signs should follow MUTCD sizes, which would be 42”x30” for the wrong way, and 30”x30” for the over speed signs. If signs meet MUTCD requirements, use them.
1. At what speed will the system be activated? Maximum speed allowed for inbound traffic is 15 mph. Audible alarm should activate from 25 mph and up with the ability of the user to adjust if needed.
1. Will the wrong way sensors and over speed sensors be mounted on the same pole? There are overhangs at each gate. If those can be used, then use them. If a pole is required, again our CES folks will need to be brought in the loop.
1. What are the systems mounting to? Are we providing the poles for the systems or are there existing poles? Same as question 7.
1. How far are the guard shacks from each system? Not sure what you mean. Traffic goes around the gate shacks. Shacks are in the middle and split the traffic flow.
