About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation # FA461325Q0008, related to a B2111 A/C Condenser Unit procurement. The Q&A includes three key clarifications: (1) the serial number of the current unit is C02A00738, (2) the solicitation is for equipment only (no installation), and (3) R-410A refrigerant is still available despite manufacturer communications about potential phase-out. The Q&A addresses a potential compatibility concern raised by a vendor regarding refrigerant types and the existing air handling unit, with the government confirming that R-410A equipment remains available for this procurement.

Government Response

1) Would you happen to know or have the

Serial Number info of the current unit?

C02A00738

2) Would you please clarify if this solicitation is for the equipment only or for equipment with an install?

Equipment Only.

3)

We received an email from the manufacturer that R-410A equipment has been phased out of production in compliance with the new

EPA regulations – so a new condensing unit would have to be R-454B refrigerant.

As a result, the AHU that this condensing unit serves will also need to be replaced since

R-454B is not compatible with R-410A systems.

There are other considerations to take into account, like new refrigerant piping and mechanical room rules/regulations associated with A2L refrigerants like R-454B.

Let me know if you are able to get the information on the existing air handling unit, otherwise, it would not make much sense for us to quote a condensing unit that is not compatible with the existing system.

R-410A still available.
