Questions and Answers – Government Responses
1. Are we to provide our own consulting firm for final air clearances or should I exclude that from our pricing?
Govt’s Answer: The contractor shall use their own consulting firm, and include air sampling for clearances in their bid.
2. Are there any operable windows near the two work areas for us to exhaust our negative air machines out of? If so, will we be responsible to board up those windows?
Govt’s Answer: We believe there are operable windows within 40’ of the furthest extent of work. This can be determined at the site visit. Any access/egress used for exhaust of asbestos abatement is the responsibility of the contractor until air clearances are completed, and the area is returned to the Government.
3. It doesn't appear there is a specific bid form we have to use. I just want to verify we are able to submit our own proposal form.
Govt’s Answer: Utilize page 3 of the solicitation document. Input unit price and extended price for 1 Job and acknowledge understanding of the Performance Work Statement.
You may also submit a proposal form that meets all required documents noted on page 32 of the solicitation document, “Instruction to Offerrors.”
4. What is the anticipated start date?
Govt’s Answer: Per the solicitation, the start date is the award date and expected completion within 30 calendar days.
5. Can you please provide accurate square footage? I see 2 areas called out in the work plan with 28 sq ft total. The map shows 3 areas.
Govt’s Answer: Room #122: 20 square feet of white and green VCT with associated black mastic (runs along west and south walls). Room #162: 8 square feet of green VCT with associated black mastic (runs along the off-set wall, east side of the room).
6. Is it the area only in the red triangle?
Govt’s Answer: Abatement is only in areas annotated with #2 and #4 on the attached map. Room 162 is annotated as #4 and room 122 is annotated as #2.

7. Being the mastic appears to be ACM and on the wood substrate, and the specs call out as full containment, would you rather the entire wood floor be removed so the floor will be asbestos-free? When using mastic remover the asbestos-containing mastic will only be liquified and soaked up into the wood. Mastic remover will not remove the ACM 100%.
Govt’s Answer: Remove only the green and white vinyl tile, and mastic associated with each tile. Other areas in the room have been tested, and do not contain asbestos in the mastic. Do not remove wood flooring.
8. When are you looking to have this abated?
Govt’s Answer: As soon as possible. The winning offeror will have 30 calendar days to complete the abatement after award.
9. Can you provide any photos of the work area?
Govt’s Answer: No photos available at the time of answering this Q&A.
