FA4613-17-R-0006 REPAIR WATER AND SEWER VALVES 1
Solicitation FA4613-17-R-0006 REPAIR WATER and SEWER VALVES MMIII MAFs A01-O01
Q U E S T I O N S a n d A N S W E R S 14 April 2017
1. We have concerns that if any welding takes place on the shock attenuator bases that it will compromise the epoxy coating. Should we anticipate replacing epoxy coating or how would like us to handle that situation?
Page 3 of the revised Specifications will address this issue; an amendment to the solicitation will be issued on or before 17 April 2017. Water lines will be replaced at sites C-01, L-01 and N-01 only. The epoxy coating on the shock attenuator shall be replaced after welding as indicated in the revised SOW.
2. Do you want gaskets replaced on the shock attenuators when removed?
If the shock attenuator is disassembled, the gasket shall be replaced. (Gaskets shall be made of non-asbestos material in accordance with ASME B16.21. Gaskets shall be flat, 1/16 inch thick, and contain Aramid fibers bonded with Styrene Butandien Rubber (SBR) or Nitro Butadiene Rubber (NBR). Gaskets shall be the full face or self-centering flat ring type.)
3. Can you supply a model number for the air admittance valve?
The air admittance valve shall be “Oatey 6 DFU Sure-Vent” or equivalent.
4. Drawing 12 on sheet 3 of 3 has a call out for a 600 lb gate valve. I don’t believe that valve currently exists. Is that a valve you want added?
The 600 lb. gate valve listed on sheet 3 of the drawings is not installed and should be disregarded.
5. Can you confirm that all new air lines will be hoses and not hard lines? The drawings seem to show some of both, but SOW doesn’t seem to indicate and hard lines will be install.
TO CLARIFY: From the outlet side of the air bottle to the ESOVs, all of the hard lines and hoses shall all be replaced with ¼” hose as specified in the SOW. Hose lengths shall be documented and submitted to the government. The inlet side of the air bottle has a hard line

and shall be replaced with a new hard line from the shut off valve (located at approximately the mid-point of the enclosure, approximately 25’) to the air bottle. Install new clamps on the hard line using existing locations.
6. Can you confirm how you want us to attach/support the Air Admittance Valve pipe to the
LCC?
A metal-PVC adaptor (Schedule 80) shall be attached to the metal vent pipe. The air admittance valve shall be attached to the adaptor with PVC cement.
7. Can you specify a model for the hose grips?
The hose grips are Shoreline, Part # MMWAF 95-2 for hose H-3. Drawing is attached for your reference. Existing hose grip is assumed to be serviceable.
8. Can you provide any additional drawing or verbal description of the ring that attaches to the liner that supports the hose grip?
The ring is existing. A new ring is not required to be installed on this project.
