About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation RFQ FA461026Q0055 issued by the Department of the Air Force, United States Space Force, Space Launch Delta 30, regarding the procurement of Titian Dorm Beds and Mattresses. The document clarifies five key specifications and requirements through responses from Contracting Officer Christopher Hummel. The solicitation addresses the supply and installation of 44 dorm beds and 44 mattresses for a dormitory facility, with a controlling completion date of 4 December 2026.
Key clarifications include: mattresses between 8 and 11 inches in depth are acceptable (not limited to 11 inches); existing beds and mattresses must be transported only to Building 11352 per local Civil Engineering requirements with no additional off-site disposal; bed finish should meet manufacturer standard specifications; dimensional variance must not exceed 2 inches from the approximate 81⅝" x 38½" x 41¼" specifications due to tight room constraints; and mattresses with blue damask quilted ticking are acceptable even though they cannot fully comply with all sub-bullet specifications for nylon covers. The contracting officer acknowledged contractor concerns regarding conflicting specifications and accepted alternative solutions to ensure procurement feasibility while maintaining essential requirements.

SUBJECT SOLICITATION RFQ FA461026Q0055 - Titian Dorm Beds and Mattress (RFI) Questions and Answers
1. Mattress thickness. CLIN 0002 says 8"–11" deep; the Salient Characteristics say 11". Is a mattress between 8" and 11" acceptable, or must it be 11"?
A1. Yes, while we request 11-inch mattress, a mattress between 8” and 11” WILL be acceptable.
2. Removal scope. The SOW says existing beds and mattresses are to be removed and disposed of off-site. The
Salient Characteristics and Section L say they are to be transported to Building 11352. Should the 44 beds and
44 mattresses go to Building 11352 only, or is any off-site disposal required?
A2. The 44 beds and 44 mattresses should ONLY go to Building 11352 per our local CE requirements.
3. Delivery date. CLIN 0001 shows a delivery date of 11 September 2026 and the Salient Characteristics say 16
November 2026. Please confirm that 4 December 2026 is the controlling completion date for all work.
A3. Confirmed, 4 December 2026 is the controlling completion date for ALL work.
4. Finish and dimensions. CLIN 0001 says clear oak finish; the Salient Characteristics say manufacturer standard.
Which applies? Also, how much variance from the approximate 81⅝" x 38½" x 41¼" dimensions is acceptable?
A4. We request the manufacturer standard. We have VERY limited variance allowed due to the tightness of the room measurements. Variance of less than. 2 inches is workable.
5. The bullet point for 'ticking' calls for 'blue damask quilted', which we can do, however that mattress will not meet the majority of the sub-bullets. The sub-bullets would be in reference to our Nylon covers.
A5. We understand and accept that not all sub-bullets can be met and the Nylon covers bullet point “ticking”.
