Maintain Paint for 20th Bomb Squadron Hangar (B6415) & 49 TES Hangar (B6413)

Solicitation Questions

1. Will you be providing specs for the paint?

A. No, a specification was not provided for painting. The SOW does refer to all work should be done in accordance to UFC 1-200-01, IBC, NFPA, and ABA.

2. If not, do you have a preference or a standard?

A. The KTR should follow the recommendation of the MPI Exterior Paint Tables for the substrates to be repainted. Also, the following manufacturers have be used on Barksdale AFB – Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, PPG, and etc. All paint selections should be submitted for approval prior to painting.

3. Can you please confirm how the areas in the picture are to be prepped?

A. Per the SOW, “All surfaces shall be prepped by thoroughly cleaning (high and/or low pressure washing with WATER ONLY depending on the surface being prepped) and removing all loose paint so that new paint will adequately adhere to the remaining substrate. Loose paint should be removed back to solid material. Edges of the remaining layers do not need to be sanded down to a smooth transition.”

4. On page 53, section 4 that the response shall consist of a paper copy and electronic copy on CD. Can a thumbdrive substitute as the electronic copy?

A. The GOVT cannot use thumb drives on GOVT computers, so an electronic copy on CD will need to be provided.
