Materials damaged in handling or storage shall not be used and shall 20 immediately be removed from the site. 21 Store all materials to prevent them from becoming wet, soiled, or covered with ice or snow before, during, or after 23 delivery to site. Store material in a completely enclosed building or trailer, if possible. If necessary to store 24 outdoors, stack materials on platforms or pallets at least 4 inches above ground and cover with waterproof canvas. 25 Allow air circulation under canvas so condensation does not occur; do not extend canvas to ground. 26 All new and temporary construction, including equipment and accessories, shall be secured in such a manner as 28 to preclude wind blow-off and subsequent roof or equipment damage. 29
JOB CONDITIONS 31
Proceed with application of MGRS system and associated work only when existing and forecast weather 33 conditions and temperature meet the recommendations of the MGRS manufacturer. 34 Protect other work from spillage of MGRS system materials and prevent all materials from entering or clogging 36 drains or connecting piping. PREPARATION 29
Restrict traffic from work areas until growing modules are installed and thereafter to restrict damage to the plant 31 material. 32 Thoroughly sweep away all debris, foreign material, etc. from the roof surface prior to installation of growing 34 modules. 35 During installation of MGRS, protect the roof membrane with appropriate material such as plywood sheeting. Do 37 not scrape or puncture slip sheet or membranes. 38
APPLICATION OF GROWING MODULES 40
Remove all debris from the slip-sheet surface that might interfere with installation of the growing modules or 42 compromising the integrity of the roof surface. 43 Place growing modules over the slip-sheet in the desired locations as shown on the Drawings. 45 Growing modules shall be installed in straight rows, tight against each other with edges overlapping, and arranged 47 in the proper directional orientation. 48 Installed growing modules shall be watered sufficiently with a fine spray so as to thoroughly moisten the growth 50 media from top to bottom. 51
MAINTENANCE PERIOD 55
MGRS subcontractor shall maintain the MGRS for a period of at least 90 days after completion prior to acceptance 57 by the Government. 58
102-029 07 72 73-4
90-Day maintenance shall include: 1
- Water the MGRS once a week (weather dependent) to aid in plant establishment. System shall be 2 watered more frequently during extended hot and dry weather especially when plants are showing signs 3 of wilting. 4
- Perform spot weeding as necessary. 5
